Yes, it's quite common for people with ASD to have ADHD as well. The symptoms are inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity.

It is possible. When I was diagnosed with the spectrum at 4, I had ADHD like symptoms though I was never initially Dxed with it.

Yes, ADHD is one of the conditions that is most often co-morbid with Asperger's.

Haha, I really like that attitude. I describe my combination of Asperger's and ADHD as my special interests compel me to do what I love, but my ADHD is always around the corner beckoning me to do something else instead. :)

I suspect I have ADD or ADHD (the former more likely) as an overlapping disorder because my concentration skills have always been horrendous.

Are there any medications - prescribed/non-prescribed - that can improve attentiveness?

Before anyone suggests caffeine, it has always made me overwrought and even more anxious than usual.

I had that experience as well until I cut my intake to zero.

And there are meds depending on how much of an issue it is for you.

My GP has put me on the waiting list for an ADD/ADHD assessment, but it may not be carried out until next year. Thus prescription drugs for focus are out of the question at this juncture. :(

I am so desperate to boost my productivity that I have even considered purchasing adderall or Ritalin from untrustworthy online stores.

According to several psychiatrists I've spoken with, everyone with aspergers is considered to have some form of AD(H)D.

I have ADHD myself.

Aspergers and autism are often co-morbid with other mental and physical conditions.

I am diagnosed ADD and self diagnosed AS. I wander a lot. I don't pay attention to what the group is doing, because I stare at the ground (that is where the flowers and animals are). I lose track of groups I am supposed to be traveling with because I notice an interesting thing, which I must stop and examine. I love collecting photos of native Florida flowers that I find. Last week, I failed to notice the group had departed on one of the many winding trails of the forest we were exploring. I was busy getting the perfect flower pic, and totally tuned out to everything else. Luckily, I found the people again.
I got so many new flower species for my collection on that trip... It was so worth getting left behind.

Though I'm knew to thus playground (wrong planet ) I have used humor both on stage and as a self medication for years.
I find it much better than the occassional meltdown.

I was told by a clinician that ADD/ADHD should not be diagnosed along with autism, because the symptoms can be explained by autism alone. Poor executive functioning, inattention, and hyperactivity can be symptoms of autism.

In the DSM IV co-morbidity was disallowed because it was ADHD symptoms could be entirely attributed to ASD. The DSM 5 allows both diagnoses to made of person.

I have an ASD diagnosis and am being assessed for ADHD.

I am still trying to figure out whether I have OCD or AS. I do ritualistic/compulsive behaviors and I have obsessions. I generally find my behaviors and thoughts pleasant, but I get distressed when I try to stop. It is almost like I can't stop. I have tried to cease compulsions when they have become problematic, and other people have tried to help me as well, to no avail. The best remedy I have found is to just go with it and work on finding a way for the behaviors to work.
I am diagnosed as ADD, and I find that my lack of focus is actually me being distracted by my obsessions. They are often very intrusive. It is a problem that waxes and wanes. Sometimes the obsessive thoughts are manageable and in the background. Sometimes they completely hijack my attention.

It's possible just like OCD, social anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. My brother has ADHD and I suspect that he may also have ASD too.
