I do. The bright lights and loud noise, the crowds, the boring small talk. And the occasional jerk who pops up right next to me and comes on to me regardless of how uncomfortable I look and all my attempts to get rid of him, not taking no for an answer.

Debends on what kind of party it is.

A simple, easygoing party with some friends? Yes please!

A party with loud music, alcohol and lot of strangers? No thanks.

After this New Years eve I doubt I'll be going to one again, or any other public setting for that matter. I'd get groceries delivered to my door if I could. You can stay out of society for months and build up some naivety about the kindness of your fellow man, only to meet the brutal truth when you force yourself into a social situation. I'm done with NT people for a while. I'd go on an aspie cruise in a second though, as long as there's a corner seat available.

It depends. If it's with close family, I enjoy it. Also if I can leave whenever I want, I can also tolerate it. The worst parties for me are weddings. I like watching people get married, but the reception that follows it is so boring, and people seem to plan it so that the reception goes on for hours. When you don't drink alcohol (or only have 1 drink max), time literally stands still, and if I'm somewhere where I can't leave when I want, it makes it even worse. Last time I went to a wedding the reception was from 3pm to midnight. That is longer than my shift at work!

A nice little get together can be okay (and something I always loved when it was immediate family like when we spent holidays with my maternal grandparents and it was just us five plus pets; I always looked forward to it).

An easy going get together with less immediate family or even old classmates can be okay, but nothing I would look forward to in the same way.

An actual party? No thanks. I'll pass.

I hate parties. They are the absolute worst kind of socialising there is: having to mingle with people, find a group to talk to, etc.. Most of the time, I'll find myself standing alone near the food.

There is one exception to this. If it's an organised party (organised games, etc.), where direct socialisation isn't quite as much the expectation, and instead participation in games, then I'll do a bit better. But that type of party seems pretty rare among grown-ups.

Exact opposite for me , I would feel like I could blend more in the 2nd party but no hiding place in the 1st party.

Not really. I just don't care for them. I mostly eat the food and just do my own thing like play on my phone or play my game.

I find most parties to be awkward and uncomfortable. I usually don't anybody at parties and people usually don't make me feel welcome or included. I usually end up by myself endless there are a couple of people I know that I can sit with. Even then, I still have no one to talk to as the people I do know often talk to more socially important people. Alcohol makes parties more bearable for me.

If it's a ship full of aspies wouldn't most people aim for the corner seats? Good luck in trying to get one! :D

A small party is okay. One with too many people, especially a lot of strangers, I don't like. I'd be more likely to spend the time socializing with the host's dog than the people.

I don't hate them; but I do dread them. Once there, I'm OK and enjoy the companionship, but like Cinderella, there are strict time limits. Even if I'm enjoying myself, I find socializing stressful and exhausting, and let's face it; I can only pretend to be a normal, healthy, and well-adjusted grown-up for a limited period of time.
Like Fireblossom, I like quiet get-togethers with friends and neighbors. Loud, raucous, parties crowded with people I don't know I simply won't attend.

What if they only had a cat? Are you "catist", Mr. R?

I despise parties so badly I turn down all invitations, even if they show up at the townhouse (in which case, I’ll be catching all sorts of hell, since my landlord and the homeowner’s association takes a dim view of any kind of party.)

No, I'm definitely a dogist.
