This is a thread so that I can post my progress on the starship WP (in CAD) and recieve some advice from you folks as I go along.

First, some questions!

1. How big should the ship be? Meduim (300 ft or so), Large (1000+ ft) or Wagnerian (in the miles)

Most trekkie vessels are meduim/large, but I could do it in the wagnerian size if we wanted to!

2. Shape and engine location:

Should this just be a basic copy of the trekkie "style" of two engine nacales and a circluar hull? Or should I go wild and create something more origianal?

3. Landing gear?

Yes or no? Will this land on planets or should I put in a docking bay for shuttles instead?

and whatever I come up with in the future!

Thanks for your time and participation!

I finished the first draft of the engines in CAD (rhino) yesterday!

I am not going to actually use these, but am going to redo a good deal of the piping and shaping of the engine.

The large things that look like exhaust pipes are actually fuel lines. need to fix that. . . .

The fins are radiators to bleed off excess heat. Want to reshape those also. . .

Feel free to comment.

This is going to require some thought!

Hmmmmm!
Why not do a survey of opinions, because
I can give my opinion, but this is a group
effort!

Sincerely,
Ghosthunter

I hope you liked the "Wet Cat" adventure so far!
It is not completed! Hmmmmm? I still say
a concensus or survey of the ships would be
appropriate!

Cool design though!

Redid the plumbing and the radiator shapes. Much happyier with this version of the engines. If no one objects, I am going to go ahead and start on the hull of the ship.

I think Red Dwarf was Wagnarian size, based on the books, I'd love to wander around on a ship the size of a city.

Hey, it's a BBC sci fi comedy, a kind of Star Trek spoof, but with serious moments, and the novels were even better. Red Dwarf was the spaceship the show was set on.

decided to hold off on the hull for the weekend as had little time, so I worked on the nacelles. Much of the work I did (lines, CV points, etc) can't be seen just yet. But this is what I got for now.

I changed the name from wotan 5 to wotan 3 b/c the array of 5 was not very pleasing to my eye, and three is much more managable for now. I need to make engine mounts to complete the nacelle.
