How many of you hunt? I don't know you can hunt something and put it's head on a wall. I get sick everytime I see one.

I grew up in an environment where it seemed all the men hunted. I was glad to be female and not be expected to participate. I might be able to do it in order to eat, but I'm very glad that there are others who are willing to handle that task so I don't have to. And, ilikedragons, I agree, I think hanging the head on the wall in a display of "look what I killed!" is, well, shall we say, somewhat tacky.

I mostly fish, that's a form of hunting.
As for hunting birds and deer or whatever with guns, i'm not big on it.
I used to do alot of target shooting and archery. I find that my extremely sensitive vision allows me to be very good at shooting. Plus I am trained in ballistics, breathing and heartbeat reduction methods. Shooting is interesting but with the laws here, I gave up on most of it. One time, I shot a trout! That was quite interesting!

I enjoy stalking wild asparagus.

I will hunt for food, but not for sport.

Food=Necessary
Sport=Luxury

I'd hunt, although I'd try to shoot an animal in a way that kills it instantly. Killing an animal for food is one thing, but there's no need to make it suffer. Fishing is different. Since fish have less complex nervous systems than birds and mammals, their suffering is less strong when they're pulled out of the water.

I have always despised the idea of hunting, even though in some cases it is necessary as in deer in order to keep their populations down so they don't exhaust their resources and end up starving to death during the winters. I still don't like it though.

Other than keeping populations at a healthy level, I disagree with it-- especially calling it a "sport".

Archery. To the best of my knowledge, a minor can buy a bow and arrows and any restrictions are through store policy. Other States might require a buyer to be at least 18 or have their parents with them. Automatic weapons are still legal here if you have the proper license for it. I'm not sure how much longer that will last. They are alredy outlawed in california except for existing license holders. Considering that any automatic weapons made after 1986 are banned for civilian use even with a license, I'll probably have to get a couple through the black market, find someplace remote to practice with them, and stash them away in case they are needed someday due to civil or political unrest. I might be able to still aquire military surplus and second pary manufacurer parts to build a Thompson, AK-47 (available with closed bolt), M-14 (available in Cal. as M-1a), SKS (available with closed bolt) , Browning .30 MG, Browning .50 MG, M-16 (Blah!), or M-60. With the assault rifles, all you have to do is find a competent machinist who has created homemade open bolts and selective fire switches for the particular gun. I even saw one on the internet for a Glock! (I'll have to check out what model again).
