We live and let live. A good example is that snide remarks are isolated events in the WrongPlanet forums and overt, rather than the general tone of the boards and covert.

Next?

You people are so variable in personality. Not only is rationality or seeing the big picture intensified because of some with those different aspi traits, we could also expect that many have different points of view on things etc.

That is such an excellent observation. I had never thought of it in those terms before, but now that you mention it, you're exactly right.

on a related note, I'd say the respect of taking no for an answer. When I want something, I just ask, and if the person feels it would not be in his best interest, he can say no and I'll drop the matter. A lot of people lie and manipulate to force or trick someone into doing something he would otherwise find too inconvenient. They act like it's going to be the death of them if they ever don't get their way. I think this straightforwardness is an Aspie trait but I don't know since I don't know any other Aspies irl.

This is a joke, right? The amount of anti-NT, prejudicial speech on this board sometimes beggars belief. It feels endemic, most days. Live and let live? Not from what I've seen here: far from it, in fact. Very far from it.

That is a trait that i admire. Its very hard for many aspies to lie about things. I think there is a lot less sadism in aspies too. There's the literal sense of humor, like picture puns and word puns. So many things....

I agree about the non-manipulation of others to make them do what is not in their best interest. You explained it wonderfully.

IAWTC

And it seems so many of them just want to run away from the NT world because they're oh so oppressed x:

Honesty. For better or for worse, at least you can take what an aspie says for face value.

The Aspies that call themselves Aspies and aren't ashamed of it are usually great to talk to when depressed, because they've usually been there too! We know how to bring each other out of depression, and we take the initiative to do that, we don't just keep walking and decide that someone else will come along who will do it.

Well, I've been depressed both by circumstance AND chemical! I can understand it 100%! I try to help, and usually do. Those I try to help sometimes say YEAH, but YOU have this nice life. I USED to show how they are actually BETTER OFF than I am. They usually feel better, and have a fine time trying to rip me apart. NO THANKS! I'm not headed down that road ever again. ALSO, I remember things like that FOREVER, and they may never even get another penny from me.

But I LOVE it when I see people that even seem to struggle a LOT but STILL seem to somehow be HAPPY, etc... And HEY, it is better than an easy miserable life.

One's who aren't afraid to show their true vulnerable feelings. I respect that - I will say, I am often afraid to do such things... but I can relate to and respect it when people aren't afraid to.
I need to stop being so afraid of showing my vulnerable states.

But yes - I do respect that in people. :)

I also love the straightforwardness of the people here. My motto was always ..."If you don't want an honest answer.... then don't ask the question." (I only tell people what they WANT to hear at my job, cause it pays the rent.) They mean what they say...and say what they mean, and I have the utmost respect for that and would't want it any other way. I may get called "Blunt and Tactless" but you always know where I stand. Whats wrong w/ that?
