I liked toy cars. I'd line up books to make roads and 'drive' the cars down them and park them up and stuff. I especially liked the cars that had interiors and doors that would open and close.
I also liked boys toys - tmnt, ghostbusters, biker mice from mars, power rangers, that kind of thing. I liked toys with moveable joints more than any others. I also liked toy swords and bows and arrows so I could be like the characters in Disney films (I really liked bow and arrow sets because I really liked Disney's Robin Hood and always wanted a hat like his).
I preferred teddies to dolls and thought my teddies came alive at night.
I also liked dolls houses, but moreso because I was intrigued with the tiny accessories. I never really liked dolls, although I did have one Barbie because it came with a dolphin toy and I liked toy animals and dinosaurs. I remember my first day at school when I was three - my mother, aunt and cousin dropped me off and walked away and left me there. I remember not really understanding and just standing there for a little while, then I saw some toy animals and dinosaurs and headed over there and played with them and forgot about my mum. I never actually played with the Barbie I had, though. If ever I went to my neighbours house I'd instigate Barbie torture whenever she wanted to play with her dolls. She wasn't very girly either, so she used to join in.
I used to play with animal toys with that neighbour (she was a couple of years younger than me) and we'd play in the garden and dig up stones and stuff and collect worms.
I also used to make 'potions' out of water, dirt, and stones or acorns and leaves and stuff. Or, in the bath, shampoo and soap and that kind of thing.
I liked lego and things like that, but never really had enough to build anything at home. I also found it quite annoying if someone else joined in and put the wrong colour bricks in the wrong places.
And batting a ball back and forth across the living room (keeping it on the floor and batting with your hand) or playing with my cousins with a balloon to keep the balloon off the floor.
I miss being little, that was brilliant.
