I was referred to a "psychiatrist" to do an evaluation or whatever. I thought she was going to diagnose me. Instead she saw me for two sessions and then sent out a report to my doc and then wrote down pretty much everything I told her plus some lies like how I cut myself with a knife once(razor) etc etc.

I'm applying for disability and I'm supposed to submit the application today. But looking at the BS she has on the report makes me not want to submit it. Again maybe that is my paranoia but this report seems so stupid. Should I submit it anyway or wait for few more months to see another psychiatrist and apply again? Is this normal for psychiatrists to be so full of s**t.

In my experiance- yes.

Don't let it bother you, submit it and see what happens. Other people's opinions about you don't matter nearly as much as yours do.

yes it is her opinion. but still it is going to be in my record. that concerns me. if i knew that she was going to make everything blow out of proportions I'd have been more careful and what I would tell her. but she even intentionally left out some parts and made me like a lunatic. which is fine but I just don't like how incredibly biased this report seems.

Unfortunately shrinks are a very variable quantity. (if you are in the UK), talk to your GP about what happened and see if you can get sent for a second opinion, with a letter from them outlining your concerns. You could also try talking to one of the many advocacy groups, who'll help you state your case. Dont give up & dont let them get the better of you.

I just made an appointment to change my family doctor even(because I don't think he would agree with me on the second opinion). So next Tuesday I get a new family physician and then hopefully it won't take long for another psychiatrist referra. That is all I can do so for but I'm not gonna let some stupid w horebag write BS that isn't true.

I'm not familiar with how disability works, but I would definitely find a new shrink because that one sounds like the 92% of them out there that SUCK.

Yes, psych reports are often full of inaccuracies. Someone I knew who worked in the psych system said she just never believed anything on the papers at all.

There is a chance that she may have 'hammed' up your report in order to make it *easier* for you to claim disability...

I agree with this, she was probably trying to help

Psychologist reports never look complimentary to the recipient. The important thing is that it be useful in your disability application.

I thought of it that way. Then I told her that why didn't she left out some parts and then fixated on others. She just said well I can't write everything down. I told her well you included some details that I don't even remember lol so how come? She just kept dodging my questions. She just wasn't honest and straight forward enough for me. Here she is writing down that I cut myself with a knife(lol which might have helped my case).. but just making a point that she remembers that but she left out the main central points that I told her. And I think the reason she left out those were because she is just a biased typical pseudo-scientific w horebag who wants to paint people in the bad light and destroy society. Well I'm not going with this report and even though I'm not doing well financially well right now I will just wait for the next psych. I'm sure I will get my disability claim. If not then f uck it. I will just live on welfare until I get better or maybe not.

Psychiatrists want everyone to look like lunatics so that they can give them drugs. Psychiatrists are not required to learn any psychology. I wouldn't let a psychiatrist treat my AS, even if they were the last person on Earth willing to try.

The best way to get a good psychiatrist is to get in touch with an aspergers group for their recommendation. You need someone who understands both for the report and for any counselling you might want.

Good luck

Yes you should still submit the application...
I know from experience that psychiatrists sometimes write things that are false on reports. My one wrote that I worshipped satan! Now THAT is stupid and completely inaccurate!

It sounds like your psychiatrist is trying to help you get disability...not trying to make you sound like a looney.

When I was trying to get disability for a particularly bad couple of years of depression, Centrelink (Australian Social Security) arranged an assessment interview with a psychologist from the mental health services.

After I told him about how I felt and about my life he asked me if I believed in Demonic Possession!

8O

He recommended I get out books by this author who writes about demons and demonic influences and that I should read the bible and go to church. Oh, and I shouldn't rule out exorcism as a possible solution.

The one thing he didn't recommend, is that I get any assistance from social security.

There's a BIG difference between a good psychologist/psychiatrist and a total whack job. I'd shop around for someone good.

Wow. That is the most unprofessional behavior I have ever heard of. It's good that you could just shrug that off as quackery. What if someone's mind was in a fragile and vulnerable state and they took that diagnosis to heart. That was an extremely harmful thing to do.

And besides, any good exorcist knows that you do not tell the possessed that they are possessed. You play stupid so the demon doesn't know you're on to them. :D
