I am just wondering what sort of living arrangements you have. I am 27 and have lived in both shared accommodation and have just started living on my own. I don't mind living on my own or in shared accommodation. I have lived independently of my parents for 5 and a half years.

I'm 31 and live alone in a unit I am buying (mortgaged up to the hilt).

It took until 27 to move out of home (mainly because I waited for my income to increase so I could rent on my own; I really didn't want to move into a share house).

I left home when I was seventeen. Didn't have much choice or time to think about it. I'm glad it happened that way, too.

Well, I'm not old enough to live on my own, but even if I was I would still live with relatives.

I'm moving into a new home TOMORROW! :D :D :D
You see, I live with my parents about 15 miles from the college I attend, but last week, I finally found the perfect place, less a mile away from campus, in a secluded residential neighborhood, only a few miles from downtown, with fellow students living there. I applied the same way I've done for countless other places in town, but this time, I got in! (Housing is in very high demand here due to the number of students.)

Two years ago, I lived in an apartment complex for 2nd year students only.
The year after that, I lived in an apartment in a different part of town, but I was filling the spot of a student who was away on an internship, so when he came back, I had to move out. I love living near campus and near downtown because:
1. It's a shorter trip to campus. (and it's practical to ride a bike instead of drive)
2. There's a lot more dignity living on one's own than with one's parents.
3. I get to enjoy the night life downtown on weekends.

Anyway, I'm really excited about tomorrow, so I th*t I'd share that piece of news with you.

I moved away at the age of 19 (and seem to have moved at least once a year ever year since then.) Partly it was because I needed to start university, but mostly I just couldn't stand living with my parents any more. Now I'm 29 (almost 30 -- yikes!) and I still live alone. I find I can only handle flatmates for a relatively short time.

I am nineteen and I NEED to move out. The only problem is that I live in a place it is extremely expensive to live and with what I make I cant afford anything decent or in relatively safe locations for me. Since oil prices have gone up I sometimes hear my parents who have good careers (my dad is an engineer and my mom is a registered nurse) talking about having to spend one of their whole paychecks to pay for heating oil and needing to pay it off. Bleh. I can't pay for heating oil and I don't want to live around other people in the dorms. I don't like my own age group as it is. One of my only options is a dry cabin. Bleh but I like water alot. What am I to do?

Lived in lots of places. Right now I'm sharing a small apartment with someone but in the past I've lived in three small apartments on my own and shared a house with five medical students.

Currently live in a very unsuitable residential home, with a mix of ASD and LD people, prior to that, lived in a institution res. complex.
current home is unsuitable due to the other lady being a audiologically vicious, severely attention seeking, manipulative ,horrible b**h.,am hoping to move to another house, but the council have said there are no more homes currently suitable for someone with autism and complex needs-yet they refuse to move the other lady when she is ruining the lives of everyone who lives at home and is clearly not suitable for the home, the managers originally said they were going to move her,but then said why should she move when she's been there the longest, why is it okay to keep someone who needs to be living on her own [due to all these issues, the abuse against others and the constant attempting to keep others' staff with her] in the house, when there are many other homes and setups more suitable to her?

because of the situation with having no suitable homes to go to [they don't seem to care, when that b**h is making am drink more alcohol than ever, wear earplugs+ear defenders all day and night which increases hearing sensitivity and headaches from the pressure of them, have severe toilet phobia and kidney infections because they took all the bathroom and shower room locks off the door in case she wants to lock herself in,instead of using the key to open them if it happened and the suicidal thoughts are back again].
have got a review meeting on monday about all this and hopefully am going to get them to either move her out,or get am a place in a NAS home, social worker, autism specialised inhouse pyschologist, autism speech therapist, key worker, sister and dad are all there to sort that manager out who keeps saying she knows more about am than anyone [idiot].

That's awesome! Sounds like it'll be a lot more convenient (and fun) for you. Good luck moving in!

Anyway, I live in a dorm at my uni. When I live at home, I know I can go home at any time and hang out with my family. Now that I'm away from them, I am forced to socialize more to make new friendships, which is stressful but can also be very rewarding. Plus, at English universities you get your own room and shower, so I can escape from the world whenever I need to... :)

I live on my own. Moved out of my parents house at age 22 and moved out of my native country 6 months later. When my parents visit me they do help me out with cleaning, but because I emigrated they cannot visit very frequently (because of the distance) so most of the time I just do all by myself.

I have my own apartment. I've been on my own for almost 4 years now. I am really independent. I get places using the bus. Dawn

I live in a college dorm - I don't really like it, because I have to wait for my friends to decide when we eat, I can't go to bed early because my roommate has to do homework, I don't have a private bathroom, etc. I prefer living at home, where I'm much more in control of what I want to do, and I don't always have to do activities with others to keep friends, or face as much judgment. I don't get along spectacularly well with most people of my own age. However, once I am done with college and get a job, I look forward to living on my own. I don't like being at home because my mother is controlling and judgmental, and people in my family are always bickering, but I do like many aspects of living at home - I can't wait for Xmas break.
