I have a long bitter diatribe, but to hell with that.

If you happen to live with someone and money is short and you're not working, life is a lot better if you get a job. You know who you are and you know that you can get a job if you just go out there and get it. Then you can have your car purring along quite nicely, and I can have mine, and we can go out and eat a lot if we want or buy really good food to cook. We can buy a lot of books. We can afford to start our own websites and maybe some businesses that make some money. You can get a better computer. It would be so very nice.

I want people to think about things like this. All the little efforts add up. If you can buy a favorite toy, book, kitchen appliance, DVD, or anything, you have a little more and you have a return for your efforts. That is why people get consumeritis but it is also the perfect rationale for doing whatever good and honest work that there is to make a little money.

I'm currently looking for a job, as you speak. I want all of those nice things, minus the car.

None of that motivates me.

"Don't you want a big house? A new car? New everything?"

What I want is to be left alone.

I want a job, I'm not going to college for worthless social life. I have run a cash register and I will NEVER put myself in that kind of torture again. I'll saw my fingers off to keep from going it again.

I am one of the fortunate ones. I have a job I love at the library. I have always wanted to work at a library, and am happy that I now do.

I stay at home, and care for my ASD kids, and my NT child. I consider it a job, but I don't earn a paycheck. I do however, get lots of hugs, and kisses. I also get peace of mind in knowing that my children are well cared for, and feel loved. Money is tight on just my husband's income, but some things are more important to me than money, and things.

I'm looking for work, but I'm not having much success. Job interviews are evil. One of the places I interviewed with specifically mentioned my lack of interpersonal skills being one of the factors that prevented me from obtaining that job. There's this huge shortage of engineers in the US and I have the qualifications, yet the people I interviewed with thus far didn't want to hire me(barring my most recent interview, where the outcome is still uncertain).

To pursue my interests(and thus end my current depression), I need money, and with student loans to pay down, I'll never have the money needed working a wage slave job even living under my parents' roof...

I should have not gone to college. Too late to change that now.

Anyone who wants engineers with "social skills" doesn't know what they want.

You go tell them that the next time someone here applies for a job. Meanwhile, get you a**hole out of here and go troll somewhere else.

Agreed. But it seems that you have to have to be a "bubbly people person" to get a job as a hermit in a cave in the mountains these days...

That really isn't called for.

More than ever these days if you want an engineer for your company, it is wise to actually get a good engineer.

Heh. It seems the vast majority of companies list attributes such as "good communicator", "good oral and written communication skills", and other similar statements in the 'qualifications' for the position they list.



I'm entry level. Graduated college and couldn't get hired. Most places want 5-10 years experience, but most places hiring entry level want BS like "good oral and written communication skills". I'm good with the latter, but definately not the former, and I've even been told it's cost me the job.

That being said, I'm not giving up anytime soon and I definately want to work in this field very much, but I do have plenty of regrets about staying in college due to debt.

Remnant, does your sister say she can't work? Do you both have Asperger's?

It is. You're telling people it is their fault they don't have jobs while in reality they are not wanted, no matter how hard they've tried. You are a griever and now get your sorry excuse for a human out of here.



Like I said, make yourself useful and go tell the company that the next one someone applies. I am sure they will listen to you.
