Yeah. People who get nasty about that, either don't understand the connections, or have an agenda (usually one that involves what they want to happen to autistic people, so they try to shove anyone else out of the category). Or just get very emotional about how bad they think autistic people have it and flip out if anyone equates autism to someone outside their own experience. And then some autistic people with a chip on their shoulder.
I've encountered people who think anyone who can speak or type with fluent sounding language is Asperger because autistic means unable to use words at all. Some people are just really overbearing with their viewpoints on the matter, and get really rude to autistic people of all sorts. People forget Asperger called his patients......... autistic.
