You can't force families to be more supportive. You can't force boyfriends/husbands/exes to be either. And, when you really look at it, you can't force women to gestate. Women have been aborting unwanted pregnancies since antiquity. As a practical matter, it's not realistic, and as an ethical matter, there is so much disagreement that legislating one group's morality to the detriment of the liberty of others is unethical in istelf, IMO.
I think this may be the most sensible thing that's been said in this thread yet.
I think it's painfully obvious to most of us that as subjective as morality in general is, the abortion issue really epitomizes the whole "opinions are like a-holes thing".
Most self-identified prolifers and prochoices always seem to claim "i'm prolife/prochoice BUT".....
BUT... I think abortion is ok in the case of incest and rape.
BUT....I think abortion is ok up until the 2nd trimester.
BUT...I think abortion is ok when the life of the mother is at stake.
BUT....I think Roe v. Wade was bad law and i'd like to see the issue returned to the states.
BUT...etc....ad infinitum
No matter what the policy on abortion is...you can rest assured that millions of people are going to think it's Malum in se.
