So only white people get autism?

No. I’m Hispanic and it seems like all the autistic people in my family are pale, while darker skinned people are more NT.

When I was really young I spent a lot of time out in the sun camping and swimming during the summer, and I'd get really brown. But when I became a teenager I hardly tanned at all and my skin got really fair. Maybe because I didn't go out in the sun as much, but I don't know. I was really worried because back then everyone still thought people with fair complexions were really sickly, at least in western society, and the thought of looking like I had tuberculosis or anemia really made me feel less healthy and more anxious.

But doctors these days say there's no such thing as a healthy tan, even if you don't burn you're gonna get skin cancer and premature wrinkles. Although my mom says it's better to be already tanned if you're traveling to a tropical place in the middle of winter. I think she's right because I once got a bad sunburn in the summer when I was 20 and it wasn't fun at all. I don't think Canada is as "tanorexic" as the US, though.

I prefer to think of my complexion being like Snow White myself. I have fair skin and dark hair, but my lips are quite pink. I think as long as my lips are pink I'm still healthy. :)

I have very pale skin (albeit tanning well in summer) and I've never linked it with autism. I'd say it's more to do with heavy Irish genes :D

Not white here, and living near the equator for having a pale is almost out of the question. Unless I'm seriously ill, or desperately rich and/or vain.

In comparison with natives and family? I tend to lean on either skin shades, depending how often I go out and the current season.
Or maybe both. The contrast between my exposed and unexposed skin is a bit steep.
Somewhat, if I stop going out into the sun, my skin goes fairer rather fast. And I'm not using any skin whitening products, nor do any (intentional) tanning.

On the less natural side of things, people here usually desire white skin thanks to some few century old colonial mentality. :| And itself a sign of social status of being rich or elite, a sign of different ancestry, and high maintenance.
My peers and others would've make an effort on maintaining a fairer skin -- I don't.

Anyways, I have a naturally "brown" skin.
So are most autistics I've met in real life so far.

Yeah I attribute my pale skin and back hair to my Irish side. What's called "black Irish" which I got from my mom rather than my autism.

The autism factor in skin tone would be an aversion to bright sunlight.

Autism happen in every race, I would imagine skin of every color is possible. I'm relatively light skinned for a Chinese, but I think that's because I'm in Canada. Put me near the equator and I'll be quite tanned. I love going outside and have to leave the house everyday for some reason.

You do realize that anyone of any ethnic background can be autistic right??? To say that "most" autistics are relatively pale shows low information on your part. I mean granted they would have you think that only certain ethnic groups are touched by autism but that's simply not the case being that many people don't either have the luxury of getting properly diagnosed or lack the resources to get diagnosed. I don't know about anywhere else in the world but in the US being able to see a doctor is a luxury.

I have really pale/fair skin with really dark brown hair. Mostly because I am of French and English descent as well as Irish as well which pale/fair skin is really common with dark hair.

Some autistic people have pale skin

Some autistic people have very dark skin.

It's rarer for people with very dark skin to be diagnosed with autism for various reasons.

But there's no specific "autistic" skin tone.

I'm pale-skinned, but most of my dad's side of the family are pale-skinned people as well, and they're NTs. I am not pale enough for people to (jokingly or not) call me albino though. I'm just average pale. There are many black people, Chinese people, tan-skinned people, dark people, etc, who are autistic too.

And this thread is like 13 years old, who's idea was it to rise it from it's grave?
