Look at message 9 by bluesea1971. "Obviously our different temperaments are not compatable as I do not measure up to your preconcieved expectations." Bluesea, I believe your husband chose the wrong word. I think a better phrase that he should've used was either "thought process" or "the way we both think." What your husband was trying to tell you is that the way he is and perceives things is caused by his brain wiring and the way you are and perceive things is caused by your brain wiring. He was saying that both of you had different expectations when coming into the marriage. It was because of your brain wiring and how you both think.
For instance, I expected both my NT wife and I to sit down one day when we first became married to sit down and to hash everything out including who was responsible for doing what and paying what bills. I never expected that I had to just jump in and had to go with a flow. Is this what other aspies thought on here?
I thought that if we both saw a negative in either of us we would both work together to correct it and to know how and why it was wrong. I expected that any problem that surfaced we would talk about the details about the problem and both come to a solution. With the food situation, if a person in a household is eating up to much of the food to me this person needs clarification on what they are allowed to have and how much. I never expected that I had to figure out by myself how much food everyone in the household was going to have. I always thought it would be rotely discussed.

I found out from my mother that NTs don't talk about this stuff and instead go with the flow because talking about it makes the relationship lose its "GLIMMER" or something and going with the flow keeps the relationship healthy and shows each other that each other cares about each other. For me, talking about stuff so everything is clear and crystal is quite GLIMMERING.
I see what you mean about men being a bit more tolerant of situations that aren't quite what they expected, but a man *could* use the woman's AS against her in a custody dispute. When things were worse between me and my husband I actually had to think about that unfortunate reality. Now that he's willing to work on things and educate himself about AS, fortunately things have improved.

Well I'm glad things improved for you. To be honest, though, while a man could sure as hell try that, I don't think he'd be very successful. Usually the woman has to be some crackhead who robs banks and eats babies to have her custody taken away. The man seems to just have to have a penis attached to him.

It really sounds like all the NTW on that forum have taken no time at all to learn about AS, even though the same people b***h about their ASH day-in and day-out. They don't even get that their ASH are farking exhausted after a day at work and just need to collapse and decompress for the night.

Oh man, the thing about the food would really drive me nuts...it's like, crap, I eat when I'm hungry and don't eat when I'm not...WTH do you mean too much food?
I also thought there would be more rote discussion of things, but it seems like that only happens when someone gets dissatisfied. I wish there *would* be more hashing things out (and him spelling more things out) because if I don't "intuit" something he wants, he gets irritated with me.

Yeah, you'd think they'd take some of the energy they're using to b***h and use it in a productive way...I mean I vent like the rest of us here, but if there's something that can actually be DONE, I'd rather do that than b***h.

This isn't actually true - it's a huge exaggeration. Something like AS (or any other diagnosable condition) can be used against mothers very easily in custody disputes. I used to know a guy who bragged about doing this to his wife to get custody. He held the same opinion as you, but his experience was significantly easier. Didn't change his opinion, however.
As far as it goes, I've had men and women expect telepathy from me, and found that men were not more tolerant or flexible with me than anyone else. If anything, some were actually worse than my abusive ex (who is a woman).
I sympathize with the mood in this thread, but the fixation on how terrible NT women are in general* is leaving me pretty cold.
* They're not this terrible

My sister's ex won custody by using her ADHD and past history of depression against her. It does happen.
I'm not worried about a similar situation because frankly, my partner is completely overwhelmed by our daughter. I don't think he'd leave an ASD partner just to be a single parent to a trisomy 13 child.

I learned a lot from that forum. One thing was that everything the ASH does and says is misinterpreted by the NTW as aggression/attack, opposition/defiance, or stupidity. The ASH can make a simple comment about a movie, with no intention of attacking anyone, and the NTW will automatically interpret it as a personal attack. Then, the ASH will say that he is just talking about the movie, not attacking the NTW, and the NTW will say that he is now being ultra-defensive, because she thinks that he thinks that she attacked him when she mistook his comment for an attack upon her. At this point, the conversation has gone up in toxic fume flames, because the NTW now believes, firmly and unswayably, that the ASH both attacked her to begin with and got ultra-defensive, which is the same thing as ultra-aggressive, to deny that he attacked her at all. Meanwhile, the ASH is totally confused about why the NTW is getting so angry over his comment about a movie. Because he is confused, he gets agitated and tries harder to explain himself, the explanation this time being an actual defense, which further sets in stone the NTW interpretation of him being ultra-defensive/aggressive and generally sucky to be around.
lol, this is the story of my life, except more with just about everybody except my girlfriend(the fact that she doesn't do this s**t to me is very fortunate). It really gets sickening and old very quickly, so now I try not to talk much to people. In fact, this is the very thing that made me come to the realization that there's something "wrong" with me. It happens over and over again, with pretty much everybody, and it's the main reason I first started considering that I might have Aspergers or something similar.

So that being said, I am discovering AS people EVERYWHERE. People i've know from the past, people I work with, new people I meet. I mean seriously it's a global pandemic of AS people taking over. In fact, I went down my work email list and 60-70% of the people I know from work have it.
And do you know what else I discovered recently? My ex-wife has it. Now I know why I had to get away from her. The circular maddening arguments with her exhausted me. The flat affect. etc etc.
In case you ever feel like "why me"? In case you ever ponder how it is that YOU could have got involved with an AS person. Just know that from my observeration there is a very large porportion of the population that is AS. And that goes for any ethnicity or country of origin.
I think finding an non-AS person is the hard thing these days. The AS people have populated the earth.

We are taking over. Resistance is futile.
