This parody is not mocking those who are afflicted with Asperger's syndrome. It's attacking those who are 'self diagnosing' themselves with Asperger's syndrome either as an excuse for their poor social skills or poor acheivement, or would like to claim the disorder because of it's association with high intellectual acheivement (I'm a poor, suffering, genious/genious is pain/I'm different because I'm so much smarter than everyone else) - common meme of adolescents and young adulthood). It specifically mentions that these types of people detract from the challenges that true autistics face.

I don't see it as an attack on autistics, rather, it is an attack on those feigning autism, for whatever reason, because doing so downplays the challenges of the truly autistic.

PS - I do not think that all self-diangosed Aspies are mis-diagnosed, so don't kill me.

It is obviously supposed to be a joke there is a serious and quite extensive page of Asperger's in wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome. The only thing I hope is that people don't read this satire and take it as fact. Asperger's is tough enough to explain to the lay person anyway.

Personally, I'm amused by it. The author recognizes Asperger's as a legitimate disease and really only rips on those who only think they have it. Not to say that all self-diagnosed Aspies are wrong (I myself am self-diagnosed) but may people claim to have Asperger's just because they are shy or geeky or dislike parties, not realizing that there is much more to Asperger's than that. It only further confuses NTs as to what Asperger's really is.
