Update on the Great Plushie Experiment -

The one I bought for work - I wasn't paying much attention to the details when I bought it on Amazon, it just looked colorful and I thought it would be cheerful. But it's intended for infants - so it is very colorful, but also parts of it are really soft, parts of it make scrunchy noises when I squish it. For instance the feet make those scrunch noises, but each foot has something inside of that you can feel when you rub it, but the thing inside is different on all the feet so each one has totally different feeling to my fingers. This thing is like sensory paradise and it has totally helped me with the meltdowns at work.

The elephant is the one I sleep with - my cat is funny, he doesn't like him, bats at him like he's real. But every once in a while he'll lick him. I know he can't think it's alive, not sure what's going on with him, but it's funny.

On the whole I love them both, which I still find weird since as I said I never liked dolls even as a kid.

Thanks again for bringing me over to "The Plushie Side."

Again, welcome to the Plushie Side, wozeree! :D Congrats on your new elephant friend!

Now that jenisautistic mentions it, I think Winnie the Pooh was one of my very first special interests, too. :D My aunt remembers that she and my mom bought me a Winnie the Pooh coloring book to occupy me during a 6-hour drive to my grandparents' house (I would have been about one and a half then) and I spent the whole drive either sleeping peacefully or just staring happily at the pictures of my favorite Pooh characters...as early as one and half years old. :D

My moose and elephant (and Pancho the cat) say hi to Dory and all your other plushies! I saw the thread of them, amazing!

Wozeree, that is great. I am so glad you found a sensory plushie that helps you at work. I know you have a lot of stress there sometimes so that is really awesome. I am sure your kitty will love your elephant in time. He might be a little jealous because he is your bedtime companion now. You might need to give kitty some extra cuddles. :) But I am so happy for you that you have discovered the joys of having plushies. You'll have to post a pic.

This reminds me, I went through a stage when I was 4 or under when I watched Winnie the Pooh videos over and over, I felt disturbed when he got stuck in the honey tree and the video left the impression that he would have to spend the remainder of his life with his upper body stuck in that tree although he appeared happy to have what was implied is an endless supply of honey. My Grandpa always made mention that he was named Winnie after the city of Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, a few years later there was a heritage minute about that, here is the history lesson for those who don't know.

My grandparents actually live right on the Canadian border and we drove into Winnipeg once when I was very young, and I think we even went to the Winnipeg zoo while we were there.
My mom says there's a photo of my three-year-old self hugging the statue of Winnie the bear cub somewhere. :) Given that Winnie the Pooh was my first special interest, I must have been over the moon to meet his namesake.
