My mom & I are homeless right now. We're staying in someone elses house.
This is what I mean by not knowing me, or not knowing about my situation. I'm going through some serious crap right now, & don't need to be getting picked on by strangers on the internet.

Ok. Let us all assume she cannot work. I think we all need to try to help based on the fact that she cannot work. I can see at this point it does not matter whether any of us believe she can work or not. I for one see no reason not to believe her. Cmon get with it.

Let me let you in, on a little non-secret. I'm almost 33, and I'm unemployed, at the moment. Everybody that I know IRL tells me to get a job. That's what I'm trying to do. Obviously, it seems that people only want to hire the blond, skinny girls. I don't think that it's such a big deal, not to be working, if I can't find a job. There's a worker who's helping me to find work, but in the meantime, I'll be buying copies of The Examiner and doing the different puzzles in that paper, so that I can win the extra money, to pay for my hobbies. I hate today's society, with a passion. Everybody has to be working. Everybody has to have a career. I'm as sick of the propaganda, as you are. I also hope that you stay.

I sincerely hope so too. This site is also very encouraging and empowering at times. While the advice some of us may give out is sometimes not exactly the best advice, please try to keep in mind that we really are trying to help. And whether we are actually helping or not...just remember that much of what we are saying is out of care and concern.

There is a hole in the logic here.

YES in theory anyone who can operate a PC to some degree of competence could actually work.

However.. You actually have to FIND that job. You have to be able to sift through all the crap online, locate a genuine employment opportunity, then you have to convince some employer that you can and will be able to complete whatever task it is with enough competence that they will pay you their money to do it. This, usually, with inept social skills, and like as not an almost empty employment record, which only gets more empty as the years pass by. Add to that the possibility of some very low qualifications, even if you have some high ones too...
Then you have to deal with the fact that the amount you earn has to be enough to pay for everything you need to pay (bills etc) and the fact that no matter how hard you try, you are going to have to encounter people, go outside, socialise etc in order to do this. Even if its just paying a bloody bill, because there are a million ways that they can f**k you up, and then you're on the phone, or in the bank.

Of course you could self-employ from home online, but that still involves a great deal of activity that some aspies wont cope well with, even if its ringing your ISP to get better bandwidth.

Everyone CAN work, but not everyone can be EMPLOYED.

It took me about 15 years to gain and hold down a job, and I only got that through personal acquaintance, and even WITH a job, I'm still not sure that I can keep it, because I'm not so sure that it will earn me enough to live on.

Seems to me that the only real upside of a low end wageslave job is the ability to look down on the jobless, and whine about where you're tax money goes, whilst bemoaning the fact yours isnt very good.

Note to those who complain about where there tax oney DOES go: Try looking up exactly how much of YOUR tax goes on paying for benefits for others. Trust me, you pay out more for the armoured merc benz that x minister drives in than you ever will for "dolescum", and unless you are fiddling the books, benefits are BARELY enough to live on. All those f*****s with satellite dishes are pulling a FAST ONE.. they are depriving EVERYONE, not just the working.

If it upsets you so much, stop reading the freaking responses to this post. It's not hard. Unless you just posted to get a bunch of sympathy and don't like the fact that someone doesn't agree with you. There was one original post recently (that I know of) about Aspies who don't work. Now you've started 2 more. If the topic upsets you, stop bringing it up.
