I have a sense of humour - it just may not be compatible with someone elses. Me and my (autistic) friends share a similar dark and absurdist sense of humour (Monty Python/Blackadder-esque humour). However, I did appreciate the awkward relationship humour in a film called "Humpday", but for the most part, I enjoy very dark and/or very strange humour. I don't really enjoy slapstick unless it's the Marx brothers or Charlie Chaplin and I despise gross out comedies.

My sense of humour is probably different to the average person (maybe not dramatically because I do understand quite a few social conventions now), but in no way does that mean that I lack a sense of humour.

Same here! Dr. Strangelove is a truly hilarious movie...no fighting in the war room! Haha! I love the general's insanity: the scenes where he's going on about how the Commies will impurify our precious bodily fluids are the best.

I'm a huge fan of satire, as long as it's clearly done in jest and no one's getting hurt. And I also love absurdist humour: Monty Python and Kids In the Hall make me literally fall on the ground laughing.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I have a sense of humor but sometimes it upsets people. :(

My mom says sometimes my jokes are hurtful and I don't mean for them to be.

Ahh yes, I too like satire. However, I dislike modern parody films. I watched Epic Movie and thought it was more Epic Fail than anything else, but when I watched some National Lampoon films and laughed until I cried, so I can deduce that the old parody films were better :P

I like dishing out a few puns, or well placed movie references. Favorite one:

Sorry, I cannot help you with that.
What? Why?
Because you'd be expecting that . . . (Watch "Airplane!" if you dont get it).

I rarely play an Undead on WoW . . . they dont have the guts to do anything.

I was walking by a couple of ladies, and for some reason they were talking about their boobs . . . I could only stare. One noticed and they both gave me a dirty look. I say, "Well . . . never say that all men don't stay abreast of womens' interests."

I am a pundit, and proud of it. 8)

I love Airplane--The Johnny character is great--"how about some coffee Johnny?" "No Thanks"--"Johnny what do you make of this?" "Oh I can make a hat,a brooch a pteradactyl"

"Lets take some pictures guys" and they take pictures off the wall--cracks me up every time.

i have HFA and i always have been known by people for my unique sense of humour and how i think out the box. Also the way i use words and their various definitions to create a pun. I also tend to have a dry sense of humour which tend to refer to either libellous jokes or stuff in the news. Hope this helps :)

I agree. I think aspie humour can often be offbeat, slightly wry or hard for other people to grasp, but it's there. I have a rather dry, dark sense of humour, so light-hearted misfortune at others' expense sure, but I wouldn't laugh if someone was genuinely hurt as I find that disrespectful.

False, absolutely.

I have a wicked sense of humour, if I do say so myself. Obscure and off-beat at times, yes, and very dry, but that's just the way we like it. ;)

Agreed. I have an extremely dry/sarcastic sense of humor.

Dry and black humor are my favorites. I have come to immensely enjoy stand-up comedy in my thirties, Lewis Black being at the top of the favorites list.
I think as Aspies age and fill in the blanks they hadn't understood before their sense of humor can broaden and expand and include plenty of nuance.

I'm the only guy that doesn't laugh when it's at the expense of someone else's misfortune.

I tend to make people laugh sometimes. I have a different sense of humor, usually black/dark humor and off-key, but I do have one and can laugh.

I wonder if the primary stereotype with Asperger's is that we're all robots...

Absolutely true. My parents always tell me I have no sense of "HA-HA". Thats how they put it. I have trouble with jokes. I heard a blonde joke once, and I seriously asked the person who told it, if it really is true that blondes eliminate mistakes on a computer screen by using liquid paper. I just had this image in my mind of someone applying liquid paper onto the screen, and thought how absurd that would be. It can be that bad with me. I miss the meaning of many jokes.
