-Fireworks, I remember always covering my ears on the Fourth of July.

-Fire bells, with the same reaction.

The sound of people kissing creeps me out. My parents used to give each other these quick little pecking kisses over and over.. Like 10-20 times in a row. The sound of their saliva/lips breaking suction was like finger nails on a chalk board to me.

You're not alone. Noisy kissing triggers my fight-or-flight response too.

Any loud, continuous noise in the 30-16 Hz range. Alarms, metal on metal, etc. I have to cover my ears until it's GONE.

Someone else mentioned balloons popping, and I must agree with them. I HATE it. HATE HATE. I STILL remember this "game" my 1st-grade class played, which involved popping balloons with a pin. I was so terrified of doing it that I cried and refused to do it when it was my turn. My teacher forced me to do it once, and I never wanted to go back to class after that.

I hate it when people lay on their horn while Im driving next to them because the person in front of them has done something to make them angry. It makes me jump out of my skin. I also hate balloons because they pop unexpectedly. So I guess any loud unexpected noise. The sound of lots of people talking also drive me crazy and sometimes when my kids get wired and they are all shrieking and jumping around. I have to remove myself from those types of situations or with my kids I have to calm myself down enough to calm them down....not easy to do!

I agree with you especially about the balloons

I have the same thing, the sound of people kissing each other many times in a row eg. in a bus annoys me. It's from the same family as the chewing gum smacking sound, I guess.

I hate unexpected loud noise like fiddlerpianist - the examples that have been mentioned - a loud car/motorbike going past, the vacuum cleaner, (even when I am expecting it), a fly, bee or wasp buzzing but the balloons I hate are the ones that squeak as the air goes out. I also hate the phone ringing a dog barking or someone making banging sounds in the kitchen.

I also hate it when either someone talks when I'm trying to think, (which unfortunately is unavoidable), or when my Dad starts talking and goes on and on for about a minute or two without shutting up.

What's equally annoying is that I've asked my psychologist to treat me for it but they have refused.

I hate the sound of balloons popping (unless there water balloons).
When too many people start talking at once.
I'm really starting to dislike dogs barking as my Mum's dogs just bark so loud.

Theres probably more but thats all I can think of so far.

Motorcycles, loud cars, vaccums, alarms and sirens, hammers, baloons popping, chalkboards, clocks ticking
Just to name a few
By the way I've also taste and sight hypersensitivity (strong lights and smoke make my eyes hurt, and onnions make me cry,I can't stand coffee, pepper or beer, chile, etc)

I hate the noise of babies screaming and crying because it literally hurts my ears and I can't focus and it disrupts my thought processes.
I hate any sudden loud noise because of the same reasons as mentioned above.

Small children making noises just to get attention from inattentive parents.

After being on the high school football team for all four years, hearing the coaches yell like drill sergeants, occasional sirens (including the weekly tornado test one) while in the middle of strenuous running, and obnoxiously loud rap/metal music at max volume in the weight room, I've somewhat adapted from loud noises. I'm not really sensitive to that kind of stuff, and I think it's because of that.

Either that, or I tolerate it pretty well - being used to them.

Hearing alarm clocks like my own go off during the day freak me out, sometimes with crazy anxiety until they're off, but I suspect that's not an Aspie-exclusive thing...

have you seen those "soothing noise" alarm clocks? i want one, except the sound of ocean waves probably would not be enough to wake anyone up
