No, you didn't, but you named a very short list of people you would classify as 'real' autistic members of WP.
Your diagnosis on here is 'Neurotypical', so I'm just wondering.
[And, by the way, I have AS. I was professionally diagnosed when I was ten years old.]

I named people who are very active here. I know others who are very active as well but I don't think they have any kind of autism per se, due to their very typically normal social/love/work life.

Since you are 'professionally' diagnosed then why you are being so insecure? Move on.

As for my 'diagnosis' , it's a long story , read there: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postxf130616-0-30.html

How are you able to tell if someone's love/social/work life is 'typical' and whether or not they had to get to that point or not?

Exactly.
You cannot really observe anyone's behavior over the internet, and you usually only know what people want you to know.

There is only one reason I care: because there are people who may be dissuaded from seeking help and support by self-righteous "I have it worse than you do, thank your lucky stars, quit whining, move on, and furthermore you must be faking" people who have nothing better to do than be obnoxious to other people. It's hard enough for ppl with AS to come out and talk about what's bothering them without getting accused of being fakes, for the love of Mike. As for the person naming names and saying who's "really" got AS and who doesn't, maybe you should start charging for your brilliant Internet diagnostic skills. You might get rich, or you might get busted for fraud.

Awesome post Kate =D

I agree; good explanation.

And I apologize for any confusion, as I worded the question incorrectly; I was asking why the people who say they have autism or AS worse than others... care. :P

I don't think it really matters. The fact is some people can relate, and if this is where they feel the most comfortable and get the best support then so be it.

If he or she DWELLS over it , yes you can.

With long conversations , pms and days of chatting , you can too.

I didn't name anyone of those "'who doesn't". Re-read my post and you would realize that I don't even believe in the AS label, however I strongly believe that Autism is real.

Or they could be painting a very different picture then what's really going on. All you know from someone is their perspective, and often times perspective can be so skewed that it leads to conclusion that are false.

Oh...I misunderstood. I wonder the same thing. I don't feel this pressing need to see how others' problems compare to mine and get all pissy if they seem to be better off than I am or happy if they seem to be worse off. First of all, things aren't always what they seem, and even if they somehow *were* 100% as they seem (which they probably aren't), who ever said life was fair? I really don't get this stuff *shrug*.

True enough but since there's no way I can confront their lives irl then I would just judge what they are painting about them.

lol , I just noticed this part now.

What a brilliant idea, I can make a fortune with this!

I can put a slogan for my website something like .... "Ask Boo and get a Boo!"

As for the possibility of being busted for fraud, well ....there are hordes who need to be busted before me.

I can also make some series of youtube videos , I can show off my brilliant speech skills in front of a large audience (oh...well , it sucks big time tho) , or I can make episodes with my friends (oh ...but there's none) and with my beautiful smart girlfriend (oh ...but there's no gf).

And after I make a fortune then I make my own shoes company.

I don't really like to get into the "I aI am higher/lower functioning than you" stuff either. It makes little sense except to simply acknowledge differences. However, neither do I want others to point out how I am better/worse than they are. I don't compare, and I don't want to be compared, other than for the simply sake of clarifying needs, etc., which is mostly irrelevan ton a forum like this except when someone makes a generalized assumption.
