well... ive always been one to ask for copies of my own X-Rays the day i get them taken and i try to measure my own scoliosis and kyphosis curves and usually im accurate to within +-10 degrees not bad! so in fact id actually kind of have fun in radiology... besides whats not fun about playing with a giant radioactive camera! oh and when i dont have a patient on my x-ray room load (which some radiologists get up to 4 hours off in a day working from 9 AM to 6 PM usually around 10 AM to 2 PM) i could just hop up on the table and go to sleep he he, ill lock the door and turn on the "IN USE" sign before i go to sleep so no one comes in and suddenly starts either A.messing with the machine or B.messing with ME... only thing is, i CAN tell my radiologist shes hot no problem in that... but i am not gonna tell her i like the lead apron and everything about why id become a radiologist, at that point i think she might possibly freak out!

that's pretty good!! hehe, sleeping at work.. sounds like something i'd do.. actually, i'm going to be an animator, so i probaby will sleep at work sometimes.. i've seen behind the scenes vids where the animators talk and they said that sometimes have couches or beds for when the animators are just too tired to animate anymore and need to crash for a couple hours.. lol.
yeah, some people would find it wierd to like stuff like lead aprons.. lol. NT's.. can't live with them... and, yet.. they're everywhere.

This is pretty cool. You can use lead bb's to weight the blanket down. I like to avoid lead myself. It's toxic. I would use sand or maybe marbles. Marbles are heavy.

hmmm... having to make it would be a pain in the ass! besides lead bbs, marbles, are not soft... the newer lead aprons now adays use an extremely soft lead that i find extremely comfortable...
ahh how i wish i could get that for christmas
I'd wear it to the family christmas party for sure so i could fall asleep there, its so boring at that party. they will all look at me and ill just say "what... radiology department clothing is real "in" these days!"

I won't translate it because it doesn't mean anything.
I forgot something that is almost a manic trigger for me: the sights/sounds during a summer night somewhere in a subtropical climate (fireflies, treefrogs croaking, owls hooting, balmy wind, scents of flowers like jasmine, magnolia etc., even the darkness itself seems to be thick, tangible, breathing).

for some of us the word manic is confusing and I am one of the confused one... Could you elaborate what your meaning of "manic" is

I didn't like it either, and still don't.
Manipulation on a "subtle" level isn't always so subtle, you know.

I meant the state which is the opposite of depression, and which, along with depression, is experienced in bipolar disorder; it's characterized by strong elation, energy, enhanced sociability and talkativeness, extra generosity, heigtened self-esteem, flight of ideas and faster than usual reaction, impulsive actions, and (usually) irritability. I'm bipolar so I'm used to using the word in this sense and sometimes forget it may have other meanings too. Sorry if it was confusing.

I can't stand subtle manipulation because it is not subtle at all for me either!

How about chain mail? It's pretty heavy for it's size, and can be made heavier with tighter, thicker rings. It can be hidden under clothes and moves pretty freely. It's a little noisy, though. Has anybody ever tried it?
Plus, you'd always be protected from knives and swords.
If that's an issue for you.
Unfortunately, it's complicated to make and very expensive to buy. But I think I'm going to make some to wear when I LARP.

eek... noisy that could be a real problem!
very expensive is a problem, like how much more expensive than ohhh the lead apron i was showing you guys at $120, thats not bad, and also protects you from radiation which EVERYONE gets... not many people have knife and sword issues.
lead aprons... who here likes the way it feels... *raises hand* i admit i have to say yes... and ive fallen asleep countless times while getting my big yearly x-ray series done (takes about 20-30 minutes) i decided to do some googling today and lo and behold i find the ones that the radiologist wears that goes all the way around you...
http://www.axms.com/productcart/pc/view ... product=82 not bad on pricing either... even has the neck thingie like my radiologist has, sweet sweet pressure on my neck, i love pressure on my neck! another cool thing is, simple to mummy wrap too... just get someone else to help you and they strap your arms inside with the belly strap man... i would fall asleep soooo easy that way...
too bad my parents dont understand me enough to do interventional things like this otherwise i would be looking for this under that christmas tree about time i stopped loosing sleep to my sensory issues...
so heres a few questions,
when you go for x-rays do you like the lead apron?
would you sleep in one at home if given the opportunity?
would you not be embarrased if sensory issues made it necessary to wear in public?
i would answer yes to all three.. if people asked me on the third id just say "aww shucks... forgot to take my apron off when going to break..."

Strapples wanted me to write this in my post. It was an e-mail asking me to write what I wrote to him. He liked the blood pressure cuff and I aggreed, and told him that if I had the $$ I would invest in one and sleep with it on. Heheheh.
I will also now add that I like wareing snow parkas. Lots of weight, protection from the cold and wet, and of course the pressure. I just cant think of anymore at this time but I know their are more certainly!

It's not very loud, and not a harsh sound. It's just the noise of hundreds of tiny metal rings clinking together, but it all blends together into a metallic swishy sound. I actually find it somewhat calming. But either way, you won't hear much, if at all, it under clothes.
You can see some pretty typical prices on Froogle. Some can be pretty cheap, but I don't know if I'd trust them. In general, avoid anything that says it's butted - the rings are closed by butting them up end-to-end and aren't secured in place.
But if the $120 lead vest is affordable to you, then some of the chain mail may be too. And if you don't mind wearing out your fingers, wire is cheap. You wind it around a metal dowel rod (wood compresses too much) to make a coil, and cut it into rings, which can be woven together.

i agree... i also like the material mine is made of and i tend to put my head in my arm sometimes, looks kind of weird tho. i also like the warm weight and pressure too! i would wear mine all the time in the house if my parents understood my sensory issues better... im kind of worried they would get unusual...
