I'm reporting this. You two are way over the line.

Dear Lau:

I am reporting two users for personal attacks and slander on a thread "Do You Think Elitism is a Problem in the WP Community?"

The users are DeanFoley and DentArthurDent.

Their posts have long ceased to contain any real arguments or debate, and they have become personally attacking, slanderous and verbally demeaning.

At Sun Mar 15, 2009 12:20 am, DeanFoly posted a reply to me that claimed that I "berated" him and that I "scream words of hate" in the thread.

His comments were false and slanderous, since I didn't engage in either. I questioned his accusations in my post at 12:25 a.m. to DeanFoley: "You use so much emotional and exaggerated language. When did I "berate" you? Do I "scream words of hatred"? You're heading into dangerously personal territory, with too many bad feelings. Gotta go."

I believe this behavior is clearly over the line and against the rules of the forum. Moreover, I clearly stated that the debate was getting inappropriately personal before DentArthurDent's 10:24 a.m. post.

It was after I posted this and stopped responding to the thread that DentArthurDent, clearly aware that I had removed myself from what I felt was an inappropriate atmosphere because he referred to me in the third person, said "shows her to be the elitist bigot that she is". DentArthurDent's behavior was intentional and his verbal aggression clearly came after I already raised a red flag about inappropriately personal attacks on me.

I am offended by DeanFoley's behavior and I am very offended by DentArthurDent's behavior on this thread. I believe it is inappropriately personal, attacking and slanderous, and I ask that these members be directed to review the forum rules.

This is exactly why I don't go into these long debates....

This is the biggest load of BS I've yet to come across on WP.

And by the way, my IQ is 193. HAHAHAHAHA , not to brag or anything.

I'm impressed that it was so easy for me to top your chart in such a short time, given your awesome intelligence. Either it was easy for me to top your chart or you were easy to entertain tonight.

ephemerella is right there have been several attacks on this thread.

sadly people cant seem to get along.

I have had problems in the past getting too passionate and personal about an issue... right here on WP in fact. Perseverance can be a good trait and it can be a hurtful trait.

I don't think it's a bad thing to have passionate or even loud disagreements. But really people should let someone pull out of a debate if they say they are uncomfortable.

I have not ''attacked'' you. In fact, you're the one who attacks. Just about everything is an attack with you. Report me then for my non-existant crimes. You're offended about...well, what exactly that I've posted?

You can't make false accusations, claiming I'm a self-loathing NT worshipper who believes myself a failure, then just walk off with it by saying I'M the one making personal jabs. It's laughable.

Just WHAT have I done exactly? I'm offended by your behaviour quite frankly. Shockingly, I do not enjoy being called self-hating, or accused of believing myself to be mentally impaired. I think those accusations are far worse than whatever you try to pull out of thin air about me.

Just cool down... I already told you, when you accused me of "screaming words of hate" that I think that you feelings are too personal in this. It's not always personal, when people debate and/or argue with you. Sometimes it's about the postures, positions and ideas.

If you look at my arguments, I was arguing that by emphasizing AS as a damage, illness and disorder, people who push that view are attempting to generalize their low feelings of self esteem to all AS. What my argument means is that depicting AS as primarily a negative damage or illness is a rhetorical device, a device that allows someone to attach a negative personal value judgment to a neutral physical condition, and thereby make that condition a vehicle for feelings of low self-esteem. My point was that low self esteem is in the person, not in the disorder. Attempts to bake the negative value judgments into a physical condition is, in my opinion, a projection of self-hatred onto AS, as if the condition embodies the experience.

There is a difference between attacking or defining a person and attacking or defining an argument. You got really personal last time, too.

Don't people argue with you about ideas and things? Or am I the first? Is it this subject, or just me?

I agree with ephemerella that most of her opposition is attacking her character rather than addressing her arguments. Besides that they seem to be quoting out of context and making straw men.

AS/ASDs can be a lot of things for a lot of people, but it's true that many (not all) of the negative aspects are labelled such because of cultural values rather than inherent truths. There--I've summarized part of ephemerella's argument in one sentence so no one will lose track and hyperbolize. Care to address the point now, anyone?

Why are you telling me to ''cool down'' or that my ''feelings in this are too personal''. I'm fine, that's certainly not your place to judge. I just don't appreciate being falsely accused then subsequently reported, while all the time the person does the very thing that they are accusing me of.

Easy for you to top my chart? Don't be so easy to impress, I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about this thread. And I really don't get the easy to entertain thing. Intelligence can be a real b***h at times. It gets in the way of simple, straightforward conversation. I wish I had never taken that stinking IQ test, and really, I don't even know how reliable it was, coming from the back of a cigarette pack.

And a real b***h can be intelligent at times (I hope that I can occasionally be both). IMO any tests that come in a cigarette pack must be the ones that really count!
