An untrue fact about autism spectrum disorders.
I think the non-verbal communication problem can be on either the giving or the receiving channel. My non-verbal communication channel is primarily set to "receive". I.e. I understand/read people fairly well but I don't instinctively communicate back non-verbally.
I pick up a lot that people seem confused by me, act like they're uncomfortable because they can't figure out what I'm thinking or feeling. I appear spacey/lost-in-thought most of the time even when I am in fact paying attention and very aware of people around me. It's something I have to really concentrate on to correct.
