I'll have to watch out for that. 8O .....so far Blockbuster have been OK with me - they offered me a book of 7 DVD hire vouchers for £5 - so I accepted it. It's fine as long as you know they'll have 7 DVDs you want - and that they're not valid for boxed sets. The vouchers do expire after a few weeks, which might be a problem if you don't have much time to watch them all, but luckily it's legal to copy DVDs for time-shifting purposes....anyway that's what I did, and it worked out fine, though there was a tense moment when DVD-Fab Decryptor failed to copy one disc - but it was just a matter of downloading the latest update, and all was well.

There was a video store we had when we lived in Washington and the place was called Video Max. My parents didn't rent there anymore because they asked for all this information and my mom didn't like it. I think my dad didn't like it either because he didn't go there either when we go rent videos.

It is actually an improvement over the old system of having to clip coupons which I never bothered doing so I usually ended up paying the higher price.

I use the self checkouts whenever I can and if you bought anything that the card would reduce the price of, that will be indicated on the screen. If you did not, just don't use the card.

Ok finally, FINALLY I have found other people who are as annoyed by these things as I am. I have actually done much better recently, I suppose I just gave in to it, because I used to really complain and get upset about it, and it could really ruin my whole day. I wouldn't complain so much to the poor teenage cashier but if there was management around, I would really make a big stink about having to carry the things around, and how offended I was to have to relase my personal information just to get the "deals" which they should be giving me anyway. People would give me "that" look, like I was insane. Oh I would get so STEAMED!

I went through a period of giving fake names, addresses, phone numbers, but then I could never remember them so it was even more frustration. So I guess I grin and bear it now (or maybe grin and roll my eyes  ) because they are everywhere. My keychain is laughable.

The closest grocery store to me requires a card, but I have the decency at least to keep it hidden inside my wallet. They make the "cards" as things you add to your keychain so I saw this Punk dude with one all hanging out just the other day, and I'm like, way to rebel against the system...
