No, I love summertime.

Bright sunlight: Polarlized sunglasses, as well as a hat.
Pollen allergies: Nasal antihistimine spray and Singulair.
Everyone being more active than usual: Have my own activities to keep me busy, although I do also benefit from living in a rural area.

Same here. All of the above :D My only problem with summer is that it is too short! Summer is magical for me and connects me to my happy childhood more powerfully than any season except Christmas. An all-sensory delight, allergies and all.

Yes, I loathe summer.

Feel ill when it's hot, too much bright sunshine gives me headaches.

Can't sleep properly at night, so permanently exhausted.

Too much noise outside, too much activity.

I feel exposed and uncomfortable when I can't wear a coat.

I love to walk, and in summer it's often too hot to do so for long.

I hate summer. The heatwaves wear me down, and I haven't seen hardly any rain, this summer. The sun tires me out, and I'm in the process of saving up for a good air conditioner for next summer. The only thing that I enjoy about summer, is that I get to go to my local pool, and swim in the water for a few hours, on the mornings that I either don't work, or that I'm not busy. It seems as though I was meant to have been born and living in England. It's around 33 degrees Celsius in the daytime where I'm stuck living, right now. It's at least 10 degrees cooler in London, during the day time.

i hate when it's cloudy and overcast. not so much when the clouds are darker grey. but when it's all that light grey color and it hurts my eyes to look at because for whatever reason it seems bright as hell. it's like the clouds aren't thick enough to deflect all the sunlight, but seem to bend it so it speads the suns blinding effect across the whole skyline. :x

sunny days with no clouds however are no problem. mostly because i don't make a habit of staring directly at the sun and just wear sunglasses if it's particularly bright out

Not only am I on the autisic spectrum, but I have a mood disorder that is at it's worst during summer. It's a type of seasonal effective disorder. Most other people with this type of disorder get depressed during winter. Not me!! I get depressed after being upset in summer. This is due to several things, my allergies are worse in summer, I'm bothered by the exessive daylight, I don't like all the extra activity by people in general, I don't like it when it gets hot. All these things that bother me are made worse by my summertime insomnia. I have this problem other times of the year, but not so bad. This happens to me every year. I am always glad when Fall comes!! ! I do what I can to help myself! I also have a good support network.
Even with things being in my favor, summer still drives me crazy!! Does anyone have problems like these??????????????????

yeah count me in on most of the above. I dont have any network like you though but I always manage to find ways to fast forward the summer period even if its very difficult to set up. I always use to start the summer with a massive depression and it can be hard to get rid of it. I managed pretty well this summer so far but now the depression have returned...

This! This! I am permanently exhausted right now. Fan or a/c, it doesn't seem to matter, I don't sleep well in the summer. Ah, I thought I was the only one in the world who didn't "looooove" summer.

richardbenson, where in the world is that first photo from? That is amazing.

last2know those are the the kachina peaks. (they are called this because the hopi indians believe there gods (the kachinas) live there

taken from: http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Kachina

"Within Hopi mythology, the Kachinas are said to live on the San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff, Arizona. The most important Hopi Kachinas are called wuya."

and they are practicly the best indians around these parts not that i have a bias but the navajo are from the pacific northwest, moved down stole most indians ideas in the southwest and now our town is run a mill with them. but us townfolk just call them the peaks

and labpet the sun was defintely left out of the picture on purpose :jester:

I have many of the problems you do - light sensitivity, hate heat, can't stand the extra activity/crowdedness in summer -, but my mood is worse in winter. I don't have a mood disorder so it doesn't get that bad, but I sure notice the difference.

All the replies have been interesting! I hope that everyone who also has this problem, finds ways to cope with it. Today it has been cooler and overcaste and a nice break from the hot and bright sunshine. One positive thing is that I put in a garden this year and have enjoyed myself in tending and caring for it. I have had to keep deer out of it though! They are worse than a plauge of locusts!! I can't wait for mid september through december, my favorite time of year!! !

Like a lot in this tread I don't like summer for too much light and heat.

Only thing that make summer livable here is that it also thunderstorm season (like thunderstorm)

I like thunder storms to as long as they are not dry ones that just blow dust around which is bad for my allergies. The dry thunderstorms have a lot of lightnig stikes which can cause wild fires. This can smell really bad!! ! It's not a good thunderstorm without a bunch of rain to go with it!! !!
