I'm 22, 23 this month, but my face doesn't look much older than 16/17. My sister, who is 3 years younger than me and NT, was always being mistaken as the older sibling when we were growing up. Occasionally someone would ask if we were twins and would be genuinely shocked when they found out the age gap.

Unfortunately for me my dad's baldie gene has recently kicked in and my hair is now thinning slightly, the only plus point being that I now look a few years older as a result.

If it's any consolation, on another forum that I frequent, which is a forum for people, mostly NTs, whose MBTI type is INFP, there is a thread that is about 15 pages long full of people who have this same observation/complaint. Aspies are not the only folks who experience this.

Consistently taken for ten years younger than I am, to the extent that sometimes people think I'm joking.

I look my age or older, people tend to think I'm slightly older because of my height. But I have also been mistaken as being younger because I act immature.

I have been asked to produce ID to enter licensed premises or buy tobacco products, even since having turned thirty. Last year, when I went to be assessed for AS, the physician observed that I was there with my mother and father. Actually I was accompanied by my partner and my best friend, the latter is actually a couple of months younger than me.

At 16, I looked 25.
At 18, I looked 25.
At 21, I looked 27.
At 25, I looked 27.
At 30, I looked 29.
At 31, I looked old.
With the new haircut... am told that I look younger than before. But I've always looked like I was in my mid twenties, at least for the past 16+ years, according to others.

I'm 27 in a couple of months and I still get told I look between the ages of 17 and 23. I still get ID'd when I go to buy alcohol or go clubbing. Mind you I suppose it's a compliment, it means I can aim to look 20 when I'm 30.

Answering the door of my own house I would be asked, "Is your mum in?"

I started a new job at the age of 29, one young women asked if it was my first job from school, she thought I was 16

I'm 29, people think that I look between the ages of 14-22. I get carded all the time when I go clubbing or buy alcohol. I have a growth disorder, that will always make me look younger then my actual age. Store clerks think that I have a fake ID and will refuse to sell me alcohol. The same thing happens to me when I go clubbing. It does not happen all the time, but once a month or so it will. Of course I think its a great compliment when people thing I look young.

I am 35 and told I look at least ten years younger than that. I have on occasions been talking about things that were current in my childhood and had people stare at me in puzzlement, as if wondering how I 'remember' something that they had imagined happened before I was born.

It may be somewhat genetic in my case: my mother also looks ten years younger than her age, and my father is one of those people who could be any age within a 20 year range. Or it may be AS-related.

I still get carded for alcohol and tobacco, and regularly get told I don't look old enough to have kids.. let alone 4 of them, one being 11 years old! I turn 31 this year but I know I look much younger than that.

It's not unusual for people to think that my daughters are my sisters. They're 20. They think it's quite funny. We've turned it into a family joke.

I don't know how old I look really, but it all depends on who you're talking to. Most people say I look slightly older than my real age, but others say I look just like my real age (23).
