Not always intentionally. If there's something intense I'm concentrating on, sometimes speech slips out even when I'm around other people. I was in a hardware store when someone said something about me talking to myself, and when he did that it seemed intrusive and disturbing! One of my sisters recently commented on how I seem to just want to talk to myself and not talk to other people. About not talking to other people and my realization that I want to look better I said "I need to look good if I don't have much to say!" LOL

if i didn't talk to myself no one else would talk to me.

do turrets outbursts count ?

i teach in public school (that's another story in itself) so during the 10 weeks off for the summer i am practically living in isolation the entire time except for the occasional trip to the store for food and things. yeah, if i didn't talk to myself then no one else would.

however, i have also noticed i tend to just blurt out sounds or words without any preceding cognition - turrets syndrome seems to be setting in - that or senility.

wtf

Thinking itself is impossible without words or some kind of symbolic representation/ language/something or other. If you are thinking, you are talking to yourself.

I suppose that thinking out loud can be seen as immature or annoying.
It also gives other people information you might not want them to have,
so you might consider limiting it to a safe place. Like inside your head.

Yes - all the time, although I try not to do it in front on other people. It's a form of stimming.

If I ever feel the urge to do it whilst I'm in public I always get out my mobile phone and pretend to be talking to someone on the other end of the line, just as a smokescreen so people don't freak out and think I'm crazy.

I used to, but I think I've got it under control now.

As a child I used to speak to myself out loud, but now I do it so quietly that usually only I can hear it.

Occasionally people do notice and ask me why I'm whispering, but as it rarely happens I can convince them I’m just thinking aloud.

I do often talk to myself, sometimes out loud when Im alone if i can help it. I tend to do it more often if there is a problem or scenario running through my mind. I find I understand it a bit better if i can write it down and/or hear it.

The only real friend I seem to have is myself. So to him I am very talkative.

I didn't before, but as my problems got worse I began to do that. It was just cursing at first, but now it's gone onto sentence fragments AND curse. I also tend to repeat phrases that I don't really mean, it's like a habit or a reflex.

Most of that is probably normal and necessary processing. Thinking is always a good idea. But sometimes it spills into echolalia or spills into Tourette's. It's hard to figure where the line is.

Sometimes when I'm alone but not as often as I used to. Most of the time it's just nonsence stuff more that actual conversations with myself, I usually just say a phrase in different silly voices or I give a commentary on what I'm doing usually in a silly voice.
