I voted "Other." I have an exercise machine that is like a cross between a bicycle and a rowing machine.

When I went to school before junior high school, I majored in "swing set." Whenever I go to the park, I use the swings.

I have great memories of the old family rocking chair when I was a child. It had a nice creaking sound.

BTW, in case you are wondering, my nickname is (in part) a reference to the topic at hand.

Swingsets are my friend. I swing everyday practically. I love the motion.

As for rocking chairs, I once went to a psychologist who had one. Needless to say I was rocking the whole time. But I don't own one, no where to put one.

My son has Aspergers which wasnt diagnosed until last year when he was 19. He rocked himself out of his cot at the ripe old age of 9 months and since then I have always had a rocking chair for him. When my Nana and her twin sister moved into an old peoples home they gave me their matching pink lazyboys for him. We are now done to one as my son has rocked the springs right out of the other one. His grandmother also gave him an old rocking chair which he used even though the upholstery fell off from old age and I covered it with some padding and a sheepskin so the springs wouldnt poke into his butt!! That one finally went to the dump at the beginning of this year.

He rocks constantly and I just feel that it would be really cruel to take away his chairs that he loves so much. I am currently looking around for a replacement as the last one pink one is looking pretty cruddy!! Oh well, at least it isnt squeaking!!

I'm loving the stories! I'm sure I'd end up breaking a therapist's rocking chair!

I have a 'swivel' chair that also rocks in my office.

I also have one at home.

I had never noticed my rocking trait before registering here.

Now I think of it, I could easily spend a day in a hammock!

I had a swing in the back yard and a hammock in my room as a kid. Now I have a decent house, I am trying to get the loft sorted so I can have another hammock. They are awesome!

I voted "never thought about that", but in fact I have thought about it, but never had one. I have no room for one where I live now.

But I've just got a flat and am moving into it within this month, and have to buy more furniture... I guess I'll have to buy a rocking chair then. :D

1 years ago the "626 people" (the law about work safety in Italy) went to my office room and stated that my chair was not ok for the law. I looked at them and said: "If I need to stay 8 hours here I need a chair where I can rock, do you have others?". I have still my chair (badly I need to oil it now, I can't rock anymore it does to much noise!).

Yep, i have a rocker, but haven't been able to use it due to bf's mother constantly stacking her crap on it. Same with the couch...grrr! When our room gets finished, i am bringing the rocker upstairs. I can sit in it for hours, i am sure. It's get rid of my constant shaking of my leg.

I'm not much for rocking chairs, but I got an iPod that keeps me rocking wherever.

I sometimes rock back and forth while sitting, but I HATE the motion of rocking chairs and swings. Even looking at them upsets me.

My leg will often insist on shaking, too.

I have a rocking chair and I love it, but apparently it belongs to my cat now. She spends half the day on it and gets mad if she sees anyone else sitting in it. :) I don't have a swing, but I've loved to swing ever since I learned how. It was always my favorite thing on playgrounds. Sometimes I go over to the nearest park and swing, much to the amusement and confusion of the little kids there.

I did up until my overgrown cat jumped on it.

I've always loved rocking chairs and swings...very soothing. Ironically I was just thinking the other day what I wouldn't give if I could afford another one.

Can't seem to keep still in a solid chair or couch.
