people with autism are said to be really obsessive about one subject, and one subject only. For me, it is a bit more unusual than that: I tend to have a few underlying obsessions that are my main passions and will (probably) never go away, namely music; I am a pianist. However as well as this underlying obsession, I also tend to have a temporary obsession (sometimes 2 or 3), and I will spend maybe a few months, even a year obsessing over it, sometimes less researching as much information as I can possibly find out about it and then I will probably just move on, just like that. I can't really explain it any better than that. Actually my current obsession is actually researching autism! Although these obsessions often pass, I do often revisit them again: this is not the first time I have spent researching autism and won't be the last. I also tend to like these internet forums a lot, in general, not just ones based on autism. Perhaps it is because I do not interact so well with people in actual life and try to make up for it by communicating online. Also I find forums like this mentally stimulating. So although I am fairly close minded about my obsessions I am not as close minded as most people on the autistic spectrum are supposed to be. Perhaps this is because though my parents have always encouraged me to try new things and not to be to stuck into one thing.
So in response to the original question, no, I do not think that all 'aspies' are necessarily the same.
Edit: I am probably also the only person with semantic pragmatic disorder who does not have abnormal memory for doing things like memorising bus timetables, etc.! Well I can memorise things like this if I really want, it is often on the back of my mind but I just don't get round to it. I save the time for memorising things for helping me academically wise!
