I delight in vessels of all sizes. I love sailing--it's very close to alone time for me. As for cruise ships, I have had wonderful experiences with cruise vacations. Lots of opportunity to be alone, if that's what you like. Lots of opportunity to plan your day--doing the things you like and avoiding those you don't.

I particularly enjoy sea days.

Considering the Titanic is one of my special interests (and has been since 1985... yes before the movie) oh yeah, I'd be there. I probably would have been one of the second class, invisible to most, roaming the halls with this expression on my face and trying to figure out how I could sneak some of that amazing White Star Line silverware and china into my purse. :lol:

I always found it odd that there were no designated newswriters/feature writers aboard the ship on her maiden voyage...unless they went down with the ship and were not designated as such.

this is what I would have wanted to be, if I could go back in time, but of course knowing the end i would want to survive(hey, maybe the ship would not have happened at all. )

When I watched the film, I very much identified with the two elderly gentlemen in evening dress who are stoically watching events unfold from their deckchairs. A stewardess asks them if they are all right, and one of them replies with something like "yes, we're just taking it all in, but we would be grateful for a little drop of brandy".

I would want to have first class accomodations. I wouldn't want to be in steerage, I couldn't deal with all the people experiencing illnesses. My stomach isn't that strong. I wouldn't want to be a crew member, either. I think I would be happy as a rich, eccentric, reclusive, heiress going across the North Atlantic to my Winter Mansion in Massachusetts or somewhere thereabouts.

Probably would have been the daughter of the Captain of the Titanic (my father was a Pan Am pilot), working out orderly ways for people to safely man the lifeboats.
