Dislexia the opposite of autism?
If you have both AS and NPD how do the traits manifest/interract with each other?
I can't imagine being both AS and NPD, how can one be both socially inept and still be so socially charismatic to command attention from everyone in the environment? To me it seems that society is almost something that occurs around me but I'm not quite a full-fledged member of more of a guest than a resident; a Narcissist feels that society exists to revolve around him. Remember Narsis didn't fall in love with himself, he fell in love with his image. it takes effort for me to wear clothes that match, a would wear anything less than designer labeled clothes.
from wikipedia Narcissistic personality disorder,
1. has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions) requires excessive admiration
3. has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
4. is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her
5. shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

I can't imagine it either.
My NPD-ish friend fits the NPD criteria pretty much to a tee.
BUT he has odd quirks that make me think he might sorta have a connection to the spectrum..
dyslexia..photographic memory...(or maybe that is something he boasts of)
He has an odd piercing voice that reminds me of the baaaaaahing of a goat..
He wears shabby clothes and has awful hygiene...but has made his awful hygiene into something to brag about....more girls are attracted to his smelly armpits because he is so reeking of pheromones...
He endears himself to as many people as possible...brags and brags and brags endlessly..is sure he is an elevated zenlike being...is sure he will be remembered for his adventures like Kerouac....Is sure our band will wind up on David Letterman enough to repeat it over and over again..always brags on these books he has been writing for years...yarrrgh...babbly pages of bragging about his exploits..
Intelligent mature women educated women actually fall for this...and end up with this yabbering smelly guy with no job living in their house...and then he cheats on them... ![]()

However, the researchers claim that autistic dyslexia is different from neurotypical dyslexia. What they should have written in the article is that neurotypical dyslexia is opposite to autism. However, then they shouldn't have attributed creativity to neurotypical dyslexia, as this probably goes more with autistic dyslexia. I don't know what to make of this, but I do now that the dyslexia diagnoses in Aspie-quiz shows signs of different ethologies, so it is possible they are right. However, much more research would be needed.
Do you know if there is a way to distinguish between Autistic dyslexia and Neurotypical dyslexia, other than whether or not one is also Autistic? I had assumed dyslexia was a problem in the left hemisphere, and Autism is something that impacts the right. Are you assuming that Austistic dyslexia is a right brain condition? Just curious.
