I am sceptical as to why it's called the Attwood clinic, as I don't think Tony Attwood has a clinic in Victoria. I know there is in fact a place in Victoria called "Attwood" lol.

What does it say on the letterhead Dancyclancy???

However Autism Victoria do recommend Janine as you said.

Dr Janine Manjiviona, Clinical Psychologist

Clinic at 544 Brunswick St,
North Fitzroy 3068
Phone: 03 9891 6835

Also I got a laugh out of Autism Tasmania's almost denial that there are adults. On the one hand they have a pretty rainbow which says "offering LIFE long support to people with Autism and related disorders". Then on the Adult diagnosis page,
"At this stage we have no current information about adult diagnosis in Tasmania.
For information regarding interstate diagnosis, contact Autism Tasmania." Not much about Asperger's on their site...possibly because the dx would cover a lot of Taswegians?? lol

The ATTWOOD Clinic I mentioned IS THE BRISBANE ONE, sorry if I confused everyone. I wrote to Tony Attwood's Clinic on email and received the information relayed on the former post.

I got diagnosed at the Attwood place, Minds and Hearts Brisbane. It was a 7 month waiting list and Medibank Private covered the cost ($400) under their extras package.

ah that is most useful actually, next time someone interstate asks me that, I'll suggest they contact Minds and Hearts for a referral list.

I think it is more expensive in Western Australia.
I saw a psychologist for the diagnosis (had to pay the whole $650). Then I saw a psychiatrist to confirm the diagnosis and got some money back through Medicare.

I don't think Medicare's mental health plan takes effect unless you see the psychologist for general visits. I think you have to pay for the diagnosis and testing yourself.
