If the kid is going to be autistic, they're going to be autistic, if not, than they're not. I'm sick of the quackery that still goes on in today's world. The same quackery that led to Autism Speaks, in the first place. I hope that nobody has to be forced to swallow worm eggs. Why can't people just be allowed to be the way that God intended them to be. It's almost 2010. Enough is enough! :x

Because humans are still humans.

they fear what they don't understand, and if there's one thing I learned from trying to explain my philosophical outlook on life to most of 'em, it's that there's so incredibly much most of 'em just can't understand; it's totally beyond their level of comprehension.

I remember some guy posting on here a while back about Asian culture where you just had to put up with dealing with bad people or something, cause that's how society works or something.

To quote the fat bald dude from Two Stupid Dogs "Well isn't that cute...BUT IT'S WRONG!! !! !! !!"

Well, ok, to be fair, maybe ya do gotta...but then ya can't put some idea in peoples' minds that humanity is inherently good; to tolerate all that bad--only to then try to "cleanse" those of us who are different--paints an entirely different picture.

Seriously....listen to half the things Magneto from the X-Men always says; I wouldn't say to knock off humanity or anything, but he is right about humanity.

As for the hypobaric chamber (spelling may be wrong) my cousin uses one. He is autistic rather than an aspie, about 14 years old, and finds it helpful enough that he asks to use it when he is feeling overwhelmed or has missed a session. It is used at VERY low pressure, much lower than divers use, and is perfectly safe and harmeless at that pressure, and big enough not to be stressful or upsetting for the child. So what is the harm even if it doesn't help, which in at least this case it has. :)
If I were him, I'd ask to go to a quiet place away from the rest of the crazy chaotic world when I was feeling overwhelmed, too. Which is exactly what I do, in fact, and get the exact same results he seems to; the only difference is that I'm not using a hyperbaric chamber to do it.

BTW. Placebo effect does work on autistics.

Well, its the same with the AIDS/HIV bit. Humanity (or some large number of NTs) want people to run in fear over something (philosophy that harkens back to . . . well, as far back as humanity is concerned where fear is used to rule). In another 10 years or so, there will be another "epidemic" once autism becomes "old news." Granted, few "epidemics" have a 1/100 chance of occurring, but the hype will die off (kinda like the swine flu). Heh, if you think about it, all humanity is Autistic: We dont like to change, yet we do rather suddenly; thrown into a panic when it does. We're inconsiderate of anything outside of our species, yet obsessive over our creations. If anything, we in the spectrum are just mirrors of the grand scale of humanity (and hopefully will be better given our individual traits). Evolution can be a funny, and ironic, thing . . . :D
