An effect of being affected by Aspergers?

I've had a wild imagination as a kid, and I still do, to this day.

my personal view is the research that states we have no imagination is erroneous and ignorant.
My HFA nephew who was dx'ed at 4, has decided there are little people living in his mother's ear. i think that says it all.

i have imagination also. many people with AS have a thin metaphoric membrane between fantasy and reality, which is why ignoramus mental health professionals have been known to misdiagnose AS or another ASD as schizophrenia.

we can have oodles of it.

I always had an extraordinary good immagination, I wrote novels, poetry and always find "new" solutions to problems.

Well I dont know if you count it as imagination......
but usually when I am doing or thinking things I have a picture in my brain
eg. when I m talking with people I would think of a firing machine gun (it may somehow connect to the fact that I m a fast-speaker)
when I m listening to music I would actually think of how to "draw" it. In fact I love to listen to music when I m drawing
and I usually think of myself as a young female soldier. Even I m neither female nor soldier in the first place
Yes I know drawing but I m just too lazy to really draw anything, :( but still I can say I m a visual, if not imaginative, person

Depends on what you mean by "imagination". I can't brainstorm very well, but I tend to be a very creative problem-solver.

I have a very active imagination, and always have. That's one of the reasons why I often don't engage with the outside world as much as I should -- my inner world is so absorbing. I do enjoy creative writing, and I have written quite a number of stories and poems over the years. In recent months, my focus has been on writing stories for children, which I hope to publish one of these days. I've actually been thinking a lot about writing stories about children with "special needs" recently, and my latest story was about a boy with AS. I'm actually planning another story about this character, which I'm thinking about working on this weekend.
I've always really enjoyed making up stories. My interest in actually writing stories down is sometimes active, and sometimes dormant. However, I'm constantly making up stories in my head. Only a very small percentage of the many stories I create in my head ever make it to paper.

Fanfiction doesn't have to be bad; stereotypes about female yaoi slashfic writers aside.....

Then again i put more focus on analyzing and making sure the universe isn't screwed over via canon, etc than 'creativity'.....

Also yes I am working on a sci-fi universe based off the internet...in SPACCCE

I've always had an extraordinary imagination. I'm multitalented in creative areas, and I just love it. The main problem I'm having with it lately, though, is that I can't slip into the story like I'm supposed to any more because (due to one thing and another) I'm now living with a bunch of extremely noisy people, and I'm constantly interrupted. This has the added problem of putting me into the state of mind that says I'm likely to be interrupted at any time, so even when I don't get interrupted I still can't focus. The good news is that this may change soon; I might be moving back to LA--and this time, not the valley.

I remember drawing dumb little comics when I was younger. I tried drawing, but what was in my mind just couldn't come out on paper like I wanted! I tried writing stories, but I lost the will to continue with them. I think I might have a good imagination, but I have neither the talent nor the motivation to try to bring it to life anymore! :(

Maybe ONE DAY, I would be happy enough to draw some anime characters or cars, or learn how to draw properly, then share my works with as many people as I can... Bleah!

Maybe you are original and creative but not in an artistic way :?:

There's what might be called"artistic" creativity and also a "practical" creativity too.

I'm good at finding creative solutions to problems, yes. I'm not good at imagining or writing descriptions of people, things or places, or thinking of any kind of plot. I find creative writing (or writing anything at length) very hard to do. I usually want to write things directly and concisely.
