Odin - 'hi!' I meant to say hello before. I guess your 'stim' answer means to offset oneself - true.

Otherwise, unknown. Stimming if mostly involuntary - I can become lost in stimming; like another realm and far away.

Hi, LabPet! :D :D :D

I stim when I'm in emotional overload or in incredibly uncomfortable situations.
I visited my uncle who was in the hospital and near death this summer, and I couldn't stop scuffing my feet and rocking back and forth. It was awful.

When I'm bored, I tap-dance or scuff my feet on the floor and make rhythms. If I hear music, I automatically start dancing, no matter where I am, and I don't realize I'm doing it until someone points it out to me. Sometimes, I'm only hearing the music in my head.

Would constantly checking my phone for messages or facebook notifications even though I know I don't have any be considered a stim? I do this all the time.

- Nervous but not too nervous (at the too-nervous point, I freeze)

- Not feeling anything in particular
-Eating
- Waiting for the bus

Why? I don't know. I'm lucky if I even realise I'm stimming, at the time. I suppose it's because of feeling insecure or stressed out, but I've never once thought "I'm feeling stressed so I think I'll stim." Any explanations I have are just theory and guesswork. I guess it just goes to show how unaware I am of how I'm feeling and how I'm coping with it.

I am very stimulus seeking. And I seek it because it is an energy source for me. I strive to hold my stimulation level at just below the point of overwhelm as much as possible. I do it for the high. I stim in many ways. I stim with music a lot. I stim with movement. I stim with speed sometimes, but I reach the overwhelm point far too soon for roller coasters. Oh well. I get huge stimulation from what I call "Soul Connection", or "Mind Touch" which is a way many empaths experience close friends. One of my favorite stims is bedtime. I LOVE to lay on my stomach in bed with heavy covers over me, while I'm hugging my pillow. This is one of the times that I use stims for calming. This a full body soothing with solitude. When I was younger I used to calm my frayed nerves by going home when I knew I would be there alone for a while, and I would lock myself inside our walk in closet, disrobe, wrap myself inside a blanket, the more scratchy the better actually, and let myself cry my frustrations away. I have done a lot of earnest praying in those times too.

I used to drive my kid brother crazy because I could not help but tap my foot to the catchy tune playing in my head, but all he saw was me tapping my foot for no appearant reason. I stim when I'm cold. I stim without realizing I am, when I am onto a neat creative solution to some problem. I often pace when I am trying to visualize the structure of a program I am learning, or creating. When something is stimulating, it is nearly impossible to sit still. I have endless curiosity, and learning is very stimulating, if it is a subject that I am interested in, and when my interest is peaked I stim. I just stim.

It feels fabulous, I usually use my sense of touch, I like to feel things, rip things, scratch things, fiddle with things etc. I also do the eye stims like looking at the streams of light that come out of bulbs and zooming in and out.
I sometimes do fast, fidgety type things when I'm anxious, usually in social situations where I don't know people well or something, I can't keep still.

I had a rocking chair in my room when it had been finished the other day, I love those things. I'm a bit of a pacer when listening to music on my own, or sometimes a bit of a swaying move when standing when listening to music, people don't know about that one, it's for when I'm alone.

And I just really like it basically.
