I've always been drawing and have managed to put that skill to work in various creative fields over the years, but, that said, I've never really been into Art with a capital "A". As in fine art, abstract art, modern art, etc. I've never understood the appeal of those, but practical illustration - art that serves a purpose besides self-expression - I'm much more at home with, and have always been good at.

It's tempting to put my inability to appreciate art gallery art down to AS, but I know so many NTs who share the same view that it probably isn't connected. Some people just don't "get" it, it seems.

i like math, numbers, science, and all that jazz... but i am an artistic and creative aspie.

i make my money with tattooing and selling paintings. i carry my bag of art supplies, sketchbooks, and other necessity's of life everywhere i go. if you want to see me angry or severly depressed keep me from making art.

i'm just liek you described. i am a bit "surrealistic" or very technical artist though. i often draw realistic looking stuff, that is very, very weird. i like drawing something then adding a touch of weird.
ive never been good with math.

I am an artist whenever I'm able to get myself to do things that aren't strictly necessary - duties, survival etc, which is not as often as it should be.

For the past ten days I've been on a strict schedule to do one sketch a day but I already have a backlog of four. I hope I'll be able to do them tonight.

If you're counting poetry, then yeah I think I'm quite good.

I do still like computers and programming though.

I hear alot about Aspies being more drawn to numbers or science, but my cup of tea is art.

i like to create art with "numbers" derived from formulae.
the following pictures are ideas formed purely from logic.

here is how i feel when i am sleepy and very happy about the pastels of imagination in which i float.

my art is always mathematical art, and i can not draw a facial expression like the mona lisa that mesmerizes multitudes of people.

i am happy anyway.

I like to tweak reality, I suppose. I'm not really sure how to talk about my work...visually, I use muted colors, usually earth tones because bright colors and primary colors make my head feel like it's gonna e'splode.

This is going to sound incredibly lame in writing, but one of the things I'm working on now is spilling coffee and/or tea on paper, letting it do pretty much whatever it wants to do, and then I let it sit until it's completely dry and then I turn the spill into something else, mostly shading with pencil. So far they've most been these sort of floating landmasses among nothingness. This is just the beginning, but my professors and peers seem to really like them, and for me they are really easy to do and make a lot at once. I'm like a coffee-spill landmass machine.

I can't do art if I'm thinking about it. Being in art school my teachers since freshmen year have been pushing me to brainstorm and plan and write and calculate and all these other steps before I can just sit down with my canvas and fire away. This DOES NOT WORK for me. If I can see an image in my head clearly, I have no reason to put it on paper or canvas. It already exists, it doesn't need to exist somewhere else. I feel like it would be like putting someone from a paralell universe on this Earth. It just doesn't belong. If it's in my head, that's where it's going to stay, and if I try to force it out through my hands, I ruin it. It looks awful and it's ruined in both worlds.

To me, painting and drawing is like assembling something without have to think about what it is that I am assembling. Each drawing and painting is like building a home to live in for a while.

Oooh, yes me, I'm artistic too! I haven't been a student for about a year though. Watch out, not many people are looking for artists so you might want to check out what the jobs in your area are like right now. D:

Anyway.. I can't say I'm really into realistic art, sorry. But I do like to do very precise and detailed art. :3 I'm a perfectionist and it makes me too slow. D:

heliocopters: that sounds cool, I like coffee stains a lot. It's nice to let random chance play a part in art, it's no good when people over-work it.
That sounds like it contradicts my above paragraph, I guess.. but I swear it doesn't.;; BALANCE, that's what is important in all areas of art. Balance between opposites.

Those are beautiful pictures. I bet if you put them on flickr or cafepress you would get a lot of interest. Did you like using kaleidoscopes and spirographs when you were a kid?

I make art and paintings and drawings and stuff, and I like to take photos to show people how I see things. I don't paint faces very often, and most of my photos do not contain people.

B9, how does the mathematical formula for a fractal picture work? I know the wider areas represent low numbers and the tiny parts are higher numbers, but I never saw the actual math involved.

If you mean artistic as in creating and inventing games, then yes, you can say I'm artistic. Though i'm interest in art, writing, and music, games are where it's at for me (not video games, though; I'm not good at programming.)

Well, as a child I remembering making games all the time. I loved games, but for most of the games I thought there could be more to it. Games like Risk, Battleship, and the other classics I thought more could've been added to it to attract more people and a lot taken out of it to prevent hassles.

I've played Magic: the Gathering, but like I said, there could be more to it. In a few weeks i became bored with it because of this reason.

Now I'm trying to invent my own board or card game or tile game (games like Bananagrams or Scrabble Apple) and send it to a gaming or toy company, hoping they'll buy my idea and have it patented. So in a sense, I am artistic.

Finally finished the damned menorahs.

Since starting Welbutrin in November, I've really seen a boom in my creativity. It's been awesome -- finally recovering that aspect of my childhood that disappeared when I started paying attention to the NT world.

Yes, I am extremely artistic. I do painting and drawing, write stories and poetry, and compose music for voice and piano. I also do general craft and other artistic projects. I am good at maths and science too, but am disinterested in those areas (apart from biology and psychology).
