Very Feminine Male Aspies! Any others out there?
I very much approve of this thread. <3
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I don't think I'm very feminine, but I also don't care much for the interests and activities usually attributed to masculinity.

This. Also, I don't have a problem with activities that are commonly considered to be female activities. Knitting, for instance, is one of my hobbies. People seem to assume that if you knit and you are a guy, you are gay. So not true.

I very much appreciate your approval of this thread! Thank you for supporting it! I was actually reading some articles recently about a couple of recent discoveries of males with Asperger's having strong (even dominent) feminine traits, interests and mannerisms. These were all from major research groups and studies and some were from books by known experts in the field. What they all agree on to some extent or another is that it seems likely that these feminine traits etc in people with a syndrome known for its tendency to actually be more the exact opposite (IE Masculine) stems from the alienation that a lot of us aspie males experienced in the earlier years of our life where our lack of social skills caused us to be shunned from male peer groups. What they think happened was that while we were shunned from our male peers the female peers our age accepted us into their groups and so in having found a group that accepted us we "adopted" traits, mannerisms etc that we saw as required or accepted by our group. I actually strongly agree with this opinion because I don't know about anyone else out there but I know I didn't have a single male friend until 2nd or 3rd grade. Up until then all of my few friends were female and I know that even once I had made friends with male peers my own age I still felt more comfortable with my female friends.

Well thank you very much for that. Always is nice to get compliments about that side of me. Yeah if I liked men I would want to date someone like me as well lol!

I don't think I'm VERY feminine...but I like to think I'm "in touch with my moon goddess side" as Cartman said.
Overall I prefer the company of women - but then that might be attributed to my mum bringing me up on her own (which also explains my dislike of football and inability to fix a car...
)
Is aspergers perhaps able to promote some feminine qualities though? Sensitive to textures/touch/smells (or I am anyway).
Scattiness - talking to yourself...more feminine than masculine typically perhaps.
There is no way I could wear womens clothes even if I wanted too...the fashion in the UK seems to be everything fitted and I would kill myself if I had to wear tight clothing... ![]()

Yeah well some of those things are just from the heightened sensory abilities a lot of Aspies have. But I did find this article and several others similar that I read that really at least in my case make sense. ASD and Masculinity

I'm just a sentient being inhabiting this particular gender. I show no stereotypical masculine or feminine qualities, although I do listen to a lot of "vagina music" like Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, etc.

This is sorta what my partner Flakey is like...he is def. not "womanish", but he is certainly not a "macho manly man"

What they think happened was that while we were shunned from our male peers the female peers our age accepted us into their groups and so in having found a group that accepted us we "adopted" traits, mannerisms etc that we saw as required or accepted by our group.
Interesting you should say that. I had girls that were friends, but i have long preferred the company of males, since there was generally less drama with them. (that probably sounds like a sweeping generalization >_>) I admired males more since there were more examples of brilliant people who provided for others among them. As a result, parts of my personality are more masculine...I generally initiate relationships, I have a strong desire to hold a stable job, I strongly favor logical discussion more than emotional discussion, etc...(more generalizations? Seriously, not trying to be an ass here)
This of course led to complications later in life, when some guys would get the wrong idea about me. I'd just want to be friends and they'd be thinking I wanted a relationship, or they'd want a relationship. Lately, I've gravitated toward males with whom a relationship would be an impossibility (or at the very least highly inappropriate). Perhaps that will fix those minor annoyances.
Does that sound understandable? It's hard to say all that without coming across as a bit rude.

Sounds very similar to me. Though in my case I feel more comfortable around women. Again the same thing happens so I somewhere along the way I ended up gravitating towards women who aren't going to get the wrong idea. All but 1 or 2 of my friends now are LGBTQ. The one or 2 that aren't are male. I posted a link in my previous post (see a ways up this page) to an excerpt from a recent book about ASD and AS.

Had to look that up on Google to see what it was!
When it comes to colors for my living spaces I like the softer, brighter, sort of spring-like colors and patterns over the stereotypical "man-style" hues and patterns.
Guess that's a feminine side strong place, eh?
Umm... not really. I my case I not only like lighter "fluffier" colors but also my interests are more feminine, very into romance anything, scented candles, fluffy pillows, actually more or less name something that is considered feminine and you can almost guarentee that I like it a lot! I also attempt to be empathetic and in tune to others emotions but that is by far not my strongsuit. According to most of my friends my mannerisms are feminine as well. I almost always sit with my lowerlegs crossed which since recently I've discovered I like wearing skirts is good since you have to sit that way in a skirt to prevent anyone from seeing up it. But if I wanted to list everything I'd need one of my friends here next to me telling me everything I've missed.
Yeah..my friend is not really one for emapthy..His personality is sorta feminine but with key stereotypical female traits missing....which is kinda the way I am...He can be "bitchy" and primadonna-esque at times..and his mood will cycle, so it will seem like he is PMSy...and then I have seen him occasionally get emotional like a female...including during meltdowns when his voice will go very high and he cry/yells.....
He fashioned a "combat skirt" out of a pair of army pants, and he used to always wear it when he went out...he doesn't usually wear it these days, and that is why I refer to it in past tense..but um...it is still one of his trademark clothing items..He loves clothes, and is a bit of a clothes horse...he looks really good in costumes..because he is unusual looking..he looks like a cross between a Vulcan and an elf...and he is unusually small-framed for a guy..and has a very slender waist..so he wears a lot of clothes way better than girls can wear them...
He has a sorta unique physiology...thin wiry frame...slender waist, big shapely knobby masuline hands, but with the more feminine digit ratio....he is also bald on top, and started balding at an early age..which would indicate an excess of testosterone on some level, I would imagine..He also looks slightly Asian, or racially ambiguous with high cheekbones and a deep skin tone and exotic-looking multi-colored hazel eyes
..even though his family is supposedly very middle-american...this might come from some Native American blood somewhere down the line that managed to concentrate itself in him..and skip other family members...it just serves to contribute to his vibe of "other-worldly-ness"...
sorry to babble about him...
I have joked that he is the closest to a female friend that I am really able to have...
(he is the main guy in my Puppetrina videos...on the Youtube Puppetrina page, he'd be the guy with the cheek dots and ladybug wings, tutu and sombrero...
LOL I'll need to see those videos! Yeah I'm built quite different. I weigh roughly 150lbs at the moment but look like I weigh anywhere between 145 and 200. My senior photo for High School was back when I was around 190 and I look like a football player. Have to make sure when I wear skirts that they are loose, long and very flared to counter my broad shoulders. My facial features are quite harsh as well, I got those native american features that skipped everyone on my moms side of the family for 300years so I've got the cheekbones, jawline, brows but then managed to get a roman nose lol. My long hair helps soften some of that though. My cousin stated that from behind when I'm wearing my most recent outfit I just look like a tall square woman. I need to get some pics of me in it though.

I know this thread's a bit old, but...
I don't consider myself overtly feminine, but I sometimes will wear nail polish and I adore some things that many people consider "girly".
