No, they think the opposite, they think I'm clever and they're right if I do say so myself. But in some subjects people expect me to know everything and I don't so I feel like I've let them down if I give a wrong answer in psychology lessons.
In highschool the teachers treated me like I was ret*d even though they knew I was (and still am) a fully capable and intelligent member of society thankyouverymuch! If a little absent minded

Not anymore, but when I was younger, people thought I was and often talked to me as if I was. I actually quit a volunteer position at a school for disabled students because I got sick of people talking to me as if I was a student and not a volunteer aide. Now, people think I'm clever or just shy.

Most people think I am some kind of genius.

Depends on the person and the situation I'm in. Anything that requires me to be social generally ends up with people thinking I'm either not all there or rude.

I get the oddest combination of responses. Some people think I am slow, some people think I am brilliant. I think it depends on whether or not I happen to be in the mood to lecture on something at the time.

Some people tend to think i'am weird in some ways but they don't label be as ret*d plus most of the times, they think i'm just a regular NT.... But I don't normally like to tell people that i'm autistic... I feel it would make people uncomfortable like it did in the past. :(
So I tend to keep it a secret unless I feel comfortable and I could trust the person :)

I've had a few people presume that sort of thing about me. Most of them are complete strangers off the street. I think it's the fact that my eye contact is a little off, and I have a sweet, innocent face. It's almost like they can detect my childlike wonder, and than they presume what my intelligence is, based on that.

Often people assume that I'm a genius purely because of the knowledge I have acquired from my special interests. I don't believe I am as smart as some people think I am. I am mentally equal to my peers, however I am very flattered that people assume that I'm extremely smart, though it's disappointing because I'm really not that smart.

I also come off as aloof, judgmental, awkward, insensitive and in general, quite eccentric. I agree with those statements because I am definately like that.

I hope I don't sound like I'm fishing for compliments.

I don't think a large segment of the population knows about Asperger's.

People view me both ways, both mentally ret*d and so called "genius." Sometimes people talk to me like I am some small child and my intelligence equals that of one. Other people think I am a genius because of the way I talk, mainly when I go on about my incredible medical knowledge. While talking about my obsession, I sound like an actual doctor, PHD level intelligence. I even find mistakes on websites about certain disorders! But outside of my obsession, I am a complete idiot and have a 5 year old level vocabulary. I am 26 years young. This makes my mental age (when you don't have my medical knowledge) that of a 5 year old (other things besides my vocabulary is that of a child including my so called common sense and general knowledge in all subtests in the IQ test). People think I am insane as well because of the unusual thoughts that I have, the paranoia and such. I hate having a smile on my face even while I talk about horrible things. It makes people not trust me as much or take me seriously. Stupid inappropriate affect! My brain is currently missing! Games are saving my life right now and as of now I still have motivation to do a few things. Next month is sad though.

Nup. It's more the opposite with me. People think I'm normal when they first meet me, but then once they get to know me....

Most people think I'm weird, and then they don't want to talk to me anymore.

Sometimes when people first meet me and start talking to me, they talk to me slowly, or as if I'm a small child. It's usually just older women who talk to me that way though. I know I give people a weird vibe and I'm used to it.

I don't have the problem of being thought of as ret*d, but people do tend to consider me arrogant for some reason.
I don't know why I give off that impression, I'm aware that I do, but without knowing what causes people to think so there's very little I can do to prevent it.

I know that some ignorant NTs think that you appear "arrogant" or "stand-offish" if they see you sitting by yourself and not talking to anyone. They don't understand that you're thinking of other things and it's not because you looked down on other people.
