I think there's an overlap between the two states at some point - sometimes I don't think it's constructive to think in terms of Aspie and NT about every single thing as people vary wildly wherever on the spectrum they lie and NTs aren't a hive mind anymore than us Aspies.

I'm fascinated that you can think like both (or feel you can) though, do you feel that this is helpful or unhelpful?

We think like how we think. Not how somebody else thinks. We may have similar thoughts or views to another, but the thought is still ours.

Aspies may think alike, but it's not like we are a hive mind. Same with NT's. You may be able to perceive the views of others but that does not mean thats how you think.

Having never been inside anyone else's head to see how they think, the only conclusion I can draw is that I think like me.

Hmm....

I intellectually understand all the social rules (that's what past school testing confirmed), so I know how to act like an NT. I understand people, and can read non-verbal cues pretty well.

But on the other hand, I can't practice what I know and I know social rejection quite well, and I can sit there are imagine what it would be like if I couldn't read faces and stuff. Plus I have obsessions, meltdowns, stims, etc and understand that part of it well.
