Ah, I see! This answer is very clarifying, thank you. I had suspected this is what happened to some people. From talking to some others, I have gathered that it is the opposite for some of us. (including myself) That is: it's still hard to filter, but instead of it all coming in, it all gets shut out. I do not envy you ones who have it all coming in. D:

I hate crowds, malls etc. I dont have an internal volume control. All external noises seem to enter my head at the same volume so i cant differentiate between them. Extremely disorientating and uncomfortable. I usually flee when in these situations.
