That's interesting that your wife doesn't see Aspies as iNtuitives. A lot of people on the spectrum have real trouble getting info from their physical senses, because of hyperacusis, central auditory processing disorder, dyspraxia, and other comorbid traits--no wonder we're not Sensate types. When autistics are described as being "in their own world", the world they're going to is the mental model that iNtuitive types use to understand their experiences.
The tendency of Aspies to be described as having "book smarts but no common sense" points toward a using an abstract, symbolic understanding to make up for the lack of concrete, pragmatic experience, too.
