Sometimes. Until I realize it's sort of creepy and I stop.
Now I'm not too interested in actors or big-name celebrities, mostly people who have accomplished stuff besides being in movies or making music.

Yes. I will admit that I idolize a couple of people I know IRL.
I know it's creepy. Fortunately for them, I keep things hidden.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

Idol gossip topic

I would never idolize the living. I wait until they pass. :)

I certainly do not idolize people, particularly famous people. I don't think I have ever blindly admired anyone to this extent. This behaviour would serve me no positive purpose whatsoever. However, I do admire others to a certain extent depending on the type of person they are, but I have to know them or speak to them first. As I have never spoken to or know a celebrity (without reading about them in magazines and the like), I can hardly admire them. To me they are just people like everyone else, but only their lives are far more public than that of my life and they earn more money.

No I don't idolize anybody. I don't do worship.

I've got a lot of sober admiration for some individuals who have managed to do things that I can't do - mostly musicians - but if they're famous then I'm loathe to do even that, as I see the way some people worship the famous as unseemly, which makes me want to go the other way, to provide some kind of balance. Admittedly I used to be bonkers about the Beatles, particularly John Lennon, but I grew out of it....I'm still prone to feel fascinated by some aspects of their work and lives, but definitely not to the level of idolatry. Everybody has flaws, and idolizing them is only likely to make them arrogant and sloppy.

Agreed, though I prefer the term "receive" to "earn." ........I try to reserve the term "earn" for people who deserve their pay through socially-useful work.

There are some people I like and look up to, but I don't really have a idol.

I idolise John Frusciante, because of his personality - his honesty, his lyrics, his obsession for music, and his many quotations and interviews. I'm also sure he's an Aspie. He just seems so pure to me.

I don't idolize anyone really...

I respect and like a lot of people but could never in a million years become fixated or obsessed with anyone. Even my respect for people goes up and down alot.

We all have our faults at the end of the day and I'm obviously not a people person to begin with so that doesn't help.

Oh, many!

I actually have a few different categories for this. Check this out:

Top Tier-- Heroes

Ronald Reagan, Todd McFarlane, EG Ross, Teddy Roosevelt, Walt Disney

Second Tier-- Idols

Jim Henson, Vincent Price, Bela Lugosi, Albert Einstein, and Sir Richard Branson

Third Tier-- Inspirations

Captain Spaulding( House of 1,000 Corpses/Devil's Rejects), Seto Kaiba( Yu-Gi-Oh), Kakashi Hatake( Naruto), Dr. Hannibal Lecter( Silence of the Lambs), Dr. Frasier Crane from the self-titled show( and Cheers), Dr. House from the self-titled show, Scrooge McDuck( DuckTales),Simon Cowell( American Idol), Rocky Balboa( Rocky series), Willy Wonka( Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Douglas Adams, the Blues Brothers, Dr. Albert Ellis, Napoleon Bonaparte

Some of these may seem a tad creepy to you, but it's how they inspire me that's the key.

I tend to idolize people - I'm extremely idealistic, and I tend to categorize and fixate on certain people. I don't really care about celebrities. The problem is, once the person does something wrong, they go into another category and can never be salvaged. It's kind of extreme and I'm working on changing this.

There are famous people who inspire me. These tend to be people who have achieved success DESPITE setbacks, handicaps and other overwhelming odds.

Their stories inspire me.

I have a great deal of respect for musicians who inspired me to learn to play multiple instruments, but I don't idolize them.

Perhaps this is perspective gained from age, but you have to consider that these are people just like you. They wear underpants. They put their jeans on one leg at a time, just like you do. They have zits, their feet smell, you know, like the rest of us. They just went further with their thing than we did, and they are getting what they worked so hard to get. It has become their job, and they're doing it. That's the only difference.

They are prone to have the same insecurities we do, they take more exotic drugs than we do because they can afford them, they get egos out of proportion to their actual importance to the universe... just like a lot of folks do. Some of them often get trapped by fame, and can't walk the streets with us, so they become isolated. They're not heroes. Just people.

I idolize that guy I see in my bathroom mirror every morning. He's so sexy that he makes me want to kiss him on the mouth when I see him.
