Remembering i'm only recently diagnosed, reading WP i'm now realising why my core values have always been fairness, open mindedness, giving the benefit of the doubt etc.

I find other people unfair, narrow minded and always assuming the worst or taking offence any chance they get. I often accuse my wife (or at least say it seems to me) of getting upset at me any chance she gets. Even "nice" people, the ones who always smile and are kind to people and put themselves out for others still make big assumptions about others and are narrowminded when it comes to other styles of comunication or action, which they consider rude.

There are genuinely nice people in the world. I know this, I've met some. It serves to punctuate the failure of so many to be as nice as they wish others to believe. I know most people have a lot to work through, lot to overcome in order to reach the point where they can mean it, and they play nice meanwhile... goodness knows I don't do nice well as shown here. But it becomes very uncomfortable to socialize, as someone whose best attempts at doing the right thing have generally been met with hasty savagery when one slip occurred. You see it a lot, a person or group turning on someone because of one act. They think that if the other person did not reciprocate their good and kindly act, they then have license to treat them any way they want. This goes way beyond my personal beef with people I've met. It's really troubling to see how fast people turn on others, full 180, while touting their full justification. I only hope someday to get over myself enough to be one of the ones who does the right thing whether I get the "right" response or not. I'll doubtless be very, very old before it happens, if I do.
