I do the time thing too. If it's 10:58 I will say it's 11. But if it's five to 11 I will say it's five to 11. I used to have difficulty telling the time so I used to always round it off to the nearest ten.

I'm 24 and I tell people I'm in my mid twenties which is year off. It took me about 3 months to realise I wasn't 23 anymore.
But it really doesn't bother me. People don't have to be precise all the time.

Yes these things bug me a lot. Especially the time related one, my mother is a master of time warp, she will often say it's 5 when it's 4:30.
She would often come to my room at night on a weekend and say it's almost 3 and when i looked at the time it was 2:24.
This made me want to open up a whole can of logical whoop-ass, I did the first times but i learned my lesson in arguing with a person who already made up his/her mind.

There is a user here who has said he is in his mid forties in 2009 but on the other forum, his profile says he is 48. That's not mid forties. He even said his partner is 47 but yet said she is in her mid forties too and they are the same age.

You must be a youngster. For those of us in our - ahem - 40's, until we are 50, we may admit to others that we are in our mid-forties. Which, technically, 48 is.

Also, you may want to take a look at how long he's been a member. I've been a member for over 4 years, and I have no idea what is on my original profile. He may have been a member for a while and not updated it. But still, the above point is more important, I think.

That being said, I have asked my students to pull out a cell phone to check a time to the minute, rather than rely on watches or even classroom clocks. But timeliness is one of my obsessions, for myself as well as my students.

He joined this place less than a year ago and we go to the same other forum together. Also the ages in our profiles here get updated on their own due to our birth dates but he has no age listed here, only over there. I'm nosy so I look at profiles.

48 is late forties. Mid forties is 45.

People over 30 tend to lie about their age because they want to be younger or something.
My mum always said she was 21 when she was in her 30's.
