Perhaps you can blame it on my age, but I've never really been good with money. But I'm going to have to learn to spent it wisely before it's too late. I'm kinda having worries about my money in the future.

I'm more like this, but I don't get into too much trouble in that I don't borrow, once the money is gone, it's gone. I tend to regret purchases, but not regret any lack of savings. I didn't expect to live this long, and I can't take it with me, so I don't see the point of being miserly with my money.

pay attention here!...lol

its a fairly easy concept

rule #1-always save 10% of what you earn...no matter what.....you wont miss it at all , and it will always be there for you in age......save...save.....save

I always forget what 10% is...
And I always have $120 taken off what I 'earn' so I have no idea with how much money I'm left with.
And when I buy more than one thing my estimate of how much it will cost is way off.
I don't really have to worry about finances yet.

what is the $120 taken off what you earn...where does it go?

why is the purchase of 2 items more difficult than one.....one item costs 1 dollar and the other item costs 2 dollars so i have to pay 3 dollars

at 24 yrs old you should start to be more independent in finances if you feel you are ready

$120 towards rent and groceries.
There's also goods and service tax, and if I have 3 items I'm lost.
Say one item is $21.99, then next is $15 and ohh a magazine is $13.99. And let's not forget the GST.
I'm crap at maths. I know that. My mental math is worse, especially with all the noises and crowds at a shopping centre.

1-does every dollar burn a hole in your pants and is gone?
No, I often tend to indulge myself in activities that don't require money. There was a time when I was younger where I didn't really understand the flow of money and my parents were the dictators of gold so I listened to them about how much and when I could spend it. It got confusing though as I take things that are said to the letter and when i was told that we were well off then I spent it ruthlessly but when I got complaints about money being tight and that i had no respect for it I stopped and after a while was sitting on a big amount of money and my parents had to tell me to buy myself something. I got really confused by the start!/stop! system and I guess I created it myself since I didn't get balance that well, it was all or nothing kind off. I have a better sense now.

2- do you impulsively spend on junk?
Not this either. I have never had an impulsive urge to get stuff right off the bat if it catches my eye. The only time I'm impulsive is when I'm abroad and there is a bazaar with different odd things sold from a stand. I usually get so carried away I buy some things that impressed me for the moment then they gather dust in a drawer. Other than that I don't go to a store with clothes or other gadgets and blow it, I often visualize what i want before hand and if i see it later in a store I will buy it (or put it away and come back for it later if I don't find something more accurate).

3-- do you save, yet still have a good time within reason?
I would say yes, since I often have money saved away from not going out and spending it on a lot I tend to have a decent amount to treat myself to some grade A stuff when the time comes. If I have enough put away I travel and see new places or eat good food. Seeing new places and eating is something that I like a lot.

4- do you watch every penny like a hawk and spend little?
Nope, I don't. I know money is important but I have always shared my money with good friends. I've been thought to share my fun so if I'm out and get a craving for something expensive like a fancy restaurant or other activities I treat my company if it's to much for them. They are all full of pride at first and decline so i have to urge them and really make it clear that I'm not making a loan or waiting for a favor to be repaid, people who know me better will later bid me to things when the time arrives, but i will not hound them or remind them of what I've done to be granted any money from them, I demand it comes naturally to them, if not then so be it.
One thing that bothers me though is that people who don't know me very well think I'm this rich kid who throws around money, especially those who I have treated to a good time so we can both share it (nothing else intended), they later leave comments like "Oh, but it's okay for you because you're rich.." that always ticks me off but I just reply I'm not rich at all and leave it at that.

I just resisted the temptation to spend £110 on a complete set of the Real Ghostbusters cartoons. I already have the bootleg version and all the episodes are on YouTube. The official version has better playback and looks better. If I hadn't already spent a ton of money on GameGear games, I would probably have gone for it.

Money burns a hole in my pocket. There's always something I can buy. I think it is because I'm bored and don't have a day job, so I have more time to splurge. I took pictures at my mom's high school reunion event and sold the pics on CDs to many of the attendees. I came home with $300 and bought me a Wii days later. If I had a constant source of income then saving some might be easier.

I'm very careful with money. Infact, I spend too little. MUST SPEND MORE!! I always feel bad spending it, though. I think, "What if there's something else I need with that money?"

I hate my job and I could afford to live without it (live with my parents(wouldn't need any support from them appart from home which i pay for)). But, I need some sort of structure to my life.

It doesn't make me happy, though.
