Have you ever made your parents cry?

I have made my parents cry. I made my dad cry over a very harsh double-sided four page letter I wrote to him when I was 19 (I'm 28 now). He lives in another state & I never talked to him, but my mom talked to him on the phone & he told her it had made him cry. It makes me feel bad, but he needed to read that letter. I've made my mom cry on numerous occasions, especially when I was a teenager. She was always yelling at me to go to school & I was terrified of going to school & would do everything in my power to try to keep from going. We would get into horrible arguments & sometimes she would start crying. She also cried once about 5 years ago, right before I had to have surgery. But I've cried far more times than either of them.

I've never seen my dad cry and I've never made my brother cry (although I have seen him cry)

Plenty of times. My mother is very emotional (really, she has no control over her emotions) and pretty much everyone makes her cry.

Yes, when I was about 7. I played football (soccer) at that age but I hated it, so I would always want to leave as soon as I finished playing, but my parents always stayed a few hours to chat with the other parents.
One day I got tired of waiting so I took my little brother (who was about 5 at the time) and we headed home. the football field wasn't that far from my house, about 30 minutes walking distance (for someone with short legs). Unfortunately I didn't have a key, so we couldn't get inside and we waited infront of the door. After a while a friend of my parents' drove by and took us back to the field where my parents were crying and yelling.
I didn't understand why they were so upset, I had told them repeatedly that I hated the place and all I did was walk home. After they hugged my brother and I, my parents started yelling and crying even more.

It wasn't that bad though, I got some ice cream later on and they let me quit the football team a little while later.

I don't remember if they cried over the incident but while on a cruise ship my older sister was sick my thought was to let her rest so I left the room and locked the door and sat outside the door waiting for mom/dad to return they did and yelled at me for it. I also freaked mom out in Mexico I ran in front of a car and almost got hit. I also remember playing hide/seek in an unknown store freaking out my mom. I was a bad kid.

Yes. My mom cried out of anger or frustration with me. Once I made her cry because I said I would prefer not to have a mother and stuff like that. That was because I've always hated how she likes my cousin. She's MY mother, not hers, yet she treats her, it seems better than me, and she likes her better than me.

I think she also cried once, when I was in the emergency room, because I had a seizure at work. Of course, that could have been someone else. I couldn't move or open my eyes, so it may just have been someone next to the person in the next bed or something.

Not that I know of, in fact I don't think I have ever seen my stepmum cry and my dad only twice ever, when my mum took me and my sister away and when my little brother had a seizure and stopped breathing when he was about 3.

On the flip side my son has made me cry many times, mainly out of frustration at things he says and does, the fact that he never seems to listen and that I can't seem to help him no matter what I do

Yes. But only a few times. I made my mom cry once because I told her she was being too sensitive. In retrospect, that was a really d*ck move on my part.

I can't remember specifically any time I've made my parents cry over a direct action of mine, but my mom especially shed tears over an incident that occurred when I was in 7th grade. Basically, I had this supreme b***h of a teacher who hated me just because I had AS and tried her very best to get me expelled. During a parent teacher conference that was held to address my behavior in her class (70% of which had been provoked by her directly, 29% was completely bullshitted), the principal found out that she had been falsifying reports of incidents that had been occurring in her class with me. When confronted, said teacher lost it and began shouting at my parents, placing the blame for my "problem" squarely on their shoulders, telling them that if I had been her child she would have had me institutionalized long ago. Kaa-san (mom) came home crying, and the principal switched me out of her class the next day. As far as official consequences go, she got a written reprimand from the school board, which is naught more then a slap on the wrist in this particular district.

I'm not a person who likes to hold grudges, but I have a list. It's a list, about three to four entries long, of people from my past whom I would not hesitate to kill on sight if I ran into them again. Out of the three people on that list, she is enemy number one.

Wow that really sucks. I'm glad that she got caught in the end. Does seem like she deserves a lot more karmic rebalancing than just a slap on the wrist, but I think death is going a bit too far.

yep a few times. A very small percentage of the times they've made me cry.

Ooh, I remember the first time I saw my mom cry too. It was pretty shocking. It wasn't because of something I did though, it was after her mom died..
I can't remember ever making her cry. I probably did, but I might have forgotten it because it was too unpleasant.
It's the worst, making your parents sad. Ugh I'm depressed now, this thread is sad. D:

According to my parents, when I was about 2 I had an Electra Complex. I was horrible to my mother and a complete angel to my father. In fact, I was so horrible to my mother, I would make her cry. I'm told I did this in front of my father one day, and he turned to me in anger and said, "Just look what you've done! You've made your mother cry -- now STOP IT!" and I did. Just stopped being mean to her then and there.

I made my mother cry once when I was 16, but to be fair, she made me cry too. We had a raging, screaming argument about whether or not I could go to a party for the first time. In the end my dad stepped in, calmed us down, and the three of us talked about my budding social life.

I know they cried when I was shot. I think most parents would cry when they are told their child could die within the next 24 hours. Obviously, I didn't, but I was in critical condition for a few days. That was not my fault though, as I did not shoot myself (mugged).

I also know my father cried when I told my mom and dad I had to have one ovary, and maybe both, removed. I called my parents and told them I had to have this surgery, and my mother asked "Do you want us to come up to be with you?" Before she even finished speaking, my father said, "I'll be there tomorrow morning." His voice was firm, but choked up and I could tell he was crying. As it turned out, they both came up, and the surgeon was so skilled that I was able to keep my left ovary and half of my right!

Beyond that, if I made them cry, I don't know about it.

or just over a year ago my 2nd eldest sister had a huge car accident and she cried with relief.

Not surrender to her threats/attacks/BS.
Also not understanding her manner of thinking.
Also pointing out her threats.

Well she threatened me and made me cry, equalizers are needed.
