Some eye contact is okay, however, direct eye contact really bothers me. I don't like people looking me right in the pupils.

I don't make eye contact very often because I can't look at the eyes and listen or talk at the same time. I look at the mouth some though.

People who do not like eye-contact because it distracts them make it sound (not really, read the words) like they are receiving a surge of information which throws them off.
But I do not get this, the information just 'bounces' off of me.
Eyes show me nothing but eyes.

I don't really like looking into strangers eyes, it reminds me so much of what has happened to me in the past when I got chased for looking back at the person and he for some reason started to come after me wanting to kill me, ever since, I'm scared to look into a strangers eyes, traumatic and scary experience indeed.

I’m not a big fan of eye contact. It’s a little better with people I know well, but it’s almost impossible with people I don’t. I had a nice reminder of this today.

Someone walked up to my desk at work that I didn’t recognize. He introduced himself. It was someone from my company’s Research and Development department that I’ve been working with allot over the past year. I didn’t recognize him because he cut his hair since the time I met him in person before. I had a very hard time maintaining eye contact for more than a few seconds. I had to look away and back again every few seconds.

Eyes are like kryptonite to me. :hic:

I hate it. Not as bad when watching a video or something like that, but I still hate it.
I have difficulty keeping eye contact. It makes me feel uncomfortable. :!:
Although I do have an easier time talking to family members, it's still quite difficult and I do get the occasional "Look at me when I'm talking to you" thing.

hate eye contact unless I am in love with the person. Then I could stare for hours.

The only living being I like making eye contact with is my cat.

I liken my experience with eye contact to a child attempting to touch the North poles of two small magnets to one another. If he tries hard enough, it is possible, but any lapse of vigilance at all and they bounce away from one another.

There have been a select few people with whom I actually enjoy eye contact. All have deep, dark and mysterious eyes.

I can. I can look in anybody's eyes. But I don't like and I don't see any reason to stare and stare. Except the reason that NTs like it*.

And I'm interested what changes if sb's in love**. Eyes are eyes.

*One NT wanted me to stare and I said I have already seen your eyes!
**With other human. Animals aren't in THIS category of love.

I don't like it so much only because if it's more than a fleeting second I'm constantly wondering if I'm looking too long or if I'm saying the right thing with my eyes. Mostly it just confuses me. I'm not afraid of it or anything. The trickiest part of eye contact for me is when there's laughter - I don't know where to break the eye contact and it goes too long, I think.
So usually I just look at their mouth - it helps me catch all the words that I'd miss otherwise.

Other times, I simply cannot lift my eyes to look at the other person's eyes even if I want to. It almost always happens in episodes and it feels like there is a glass wall. If the wall were lifted I could look up and I think it'd make me happy because it seems to happen the most with people I love but have been around too much that day. In this state I can't even look at their face.

I don't like or dislike it; I just don't tend to think about it. If I'm focused on keeping eye contact, chances are I'm not going to remember what was being said.
