48 is interesting because when you add the 4 and the 8 you get 12 and when you turn the 4 and the 8 around you get 84 and when you subtract 48 from 84 you get 36, all which are exact multiples of the 12.

isnt this a quote from the movie "Mozart and the whale"

Yes it is, and you made it an ursaminor quote and I made it a Ravenclawgurl quote which is nice.

Don't mean to be all picky and that, but isn't there a distinction between neurological and mental disorders?

I think the term "mental illness" needs to be eliminated. AS is not classified as a "mental illness", but none of the "mental illnesses" should be, either. It just adds stigma to such disorders as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. I use the term "neuropsychiatric disorders." This encompasses everything in the DSM. All DSM disorders involve psychiatric symptoms and are neurobiologically based. I don't like hearing that AS and autism are just "neurological disorders." That makes it sound like things such as schizophrenia aren't.

I do this all the time with numbers except I try to relate them back to 3 somehow. Like 4+8=12, which is a multiple of 3. So many more to do in your sentence- I could spend all day!

That is *exactly* what I do- I do it with timers/clocks/page numbers, etc., making them all relate to three. I've never run into anyone who does this exact same thing before (at least one who has admitted it).

A shirt :!:

If you were a guy, I'd suggest wearing a shirt for a few weeks and then stuffing it in a laundry bag and handing it in just like that :idea:

Stereotypies = Repetitive behaviors

Stereotypes = "autistics are savants like rain man" / "autistics are all nonverbal"

I'm an aspie but atypically I like jokes, puns, and word play. This one is not new with me and I am not sure I have the joke completely word perfect but here we go:

An aspie walked into a bar. When he woke up he said...."I was so intent on looking at that 2 foot 7inch pine wood bar that is 2.5 inches in diameter located 6' 4" above the floor, that I missed the 15 degree up slope on the floor and cracked my head"
