Seeing John Elder Robison tomorrow!

This is such an old thread, I'm sorry, but I just laughed out loud in public seeing this thread.
I'm dating john elder robison's son, so I know him personally haha.
To the people saying that it's annoying how he generalizes, it's just sort of how he works. It is sort of an autistic thing, after all, to think that everyone works the same way as you do.
I remember once we were eating out a some place and he was talking about how people with Asperger's don't move their eyes when making facial expressions. I wanted to laugh so badly because all the aspies I know (including his son, as well as HIM) use their eyes. Not as much as NTs do, of course, but still. Sigh.
That being said, he's a great guy. He says some of the funniest things...
Ex:
John: "Where were you when Kennedy was shot?"
friend: "I was in grade school."
John: "I was at the doctor's getting a shot in the ass."

His son sounds like an interesting person too... quite the genius with explosives.

Hahaha- after the trial he's definitely off the explosives track.
(I just realized; the book was written before the trial! Weird... Basically, in short, he was raided by the ATF. The feds said he wasn't doing anything wrong and didn't charge him, but our DA is a terrible person who just wants to make a name for herself [which is why phoebe prince is suddenly a huge deal, even though that sort of thing has happened countless times within our district, no less], so she tried to send him for jail for 30+ years on felony charges for being a terrorist. The jury of middle aged, college educated moms thankfully refused to send him to jail, so that worked out in the end.)
He's looking into pharmaceutical chemistry as a career instead. (Also, because during the raid/trial the ATF kept saying they "love to hire people like [him]," he wants to look into working for either them or the CIA. I think it would be absolutely hilarious if he became a fed after everything that happened.)

There is an NT here who won't stop generalizing aspies but thank goodness he doesn't post often. But I do laugh at the things he says even though I find them annoying.

John mentioned all of that during his presentation, and talks about in his blog. That was insane. It certainly would be interesting if he worked for the CIA!
