Hmmm...

Perhaps these are both attentional issues?

Difficulties with maintaining "joint attention"?
Joint attention necessary for smooth social interactions.

Having the eyes "wander around" could make "joint attention" and social eye contact harder to maintain.

Or could it be that the person is actually left handed, but had difficulty communicating/having carers understand this?

Just a thought.

Recently, I've found that I can grip a pen "correctly" with my left hand better than my right, yet I'm right handed.
My right hand grip is very poor and "incorrect".
I was encouraged to write with my right hand at school, even though I did many tasks (including undoing buttons) with my left hand.

Some of my relatives are left handed, so maybe that's why?

My dad wanted my sister to become right handed. I'm a natural right hander. I've tried writing with my left hand. A three year old could write better than me when I use my left hand.

ADHD was my diagnosis before AS was known in the US.

Could these both have something to do with low latent inhibition?

Attentional differences?

Attending to so called "socially irrelavent" details?

Seeking out and attending to novel details in the environment?
