Apathy + Manipulation = MRELD
Everything you say I can relate to. I find that I'm different to people in this forum and another ADHD forum I post at.
At times I don't feel as smart, even to those with classic autism. I can see that there is something else going on with me. People can tell me it's just autism til they're blue in the face. They didn't know what I was like as a child. They don't know what my memory (or lack of) is like and my poor auditory and information processing too. They don't know that I can't express myself through speech or my writing like I want to.
Someone even had the gall to PM me (on another forum) that I couldn't have a learning disorder. Were they sitting down with me when I was five and I couldn't read the first words in a simple children's book that was less than 20 words long in all? Did they see me struggle at math tests after I had studied for hours on it? No, they read one post and instantly jumped to their own conclusions.
I don't think anyone with just AS would be able to understand what we with co-existing disorders (especially LD's) have to go through.

We know so little about development.
I have a visual image I like to use for it: Hold a hand-full of pebbles and toss them in the same (forward) direction. They all take different parabolic paths and (most) land in different yet related positions. Even though some reach the same height and have the same pitch, they may land in parallel-- or two that flew very differently may land right on top of each other...
Tis the only thing that makes sense to me and at least keeps me entertaining the thoughts of all these distinctions. Some of it's gotta be true but for the most part, I feel we are blindly/deafly describing chromatics.
Whether by cure, support, or just being left alone... Hope we can all feel something makes sense.
